also, the other night we had a MAJOR Lightning strike seemingly right above our carport, crazy!

which reminded me: Ford, I expect Lightning IN my carport very shortly! I hope.

Californians:

I swear many years ago somewhere on the Cal DMV website (or somewhere) where one could check if a vanity plate # was already taken, but my google-fu is currently failing me...anyone know of such a site?

On the Cal vanity plate form now, it just looks like you have to pick 3 choices and hope one sticks.

yep, here in GA we have the same form - fill out your 'top three' you'd like and they'll get you one of those if they are available, in that order. I guess if you only list one, and they don't have it available, you'll be rejected all together.

No, you can still apply and check if it's taken online. I was playing around with yesterday. All the damn plates i want are taken..
