To the Owners - Any Build Quality Issues Noted?

So far the only thing I have noticed is the center speaker grill has started to come off

Mine was like this at delivery. I've seen photos of other Lightnings that have the same bulge in the middle, so it's probably a widespread issue.

My front light bar alignment was terrible at delivery. I adjusted it using the post stops, but there is still a huge difference in the gap between the lower edge of the grille and the bumper on the left and right sides.

I wonder if Ford will issue a TSB for this at some point, I don’t want to stop by the dealer just to set an appointment, drop off for half a day for them to tell me they will order a new one or there is nothing they can do.

Yeah, it’s not what i’d expect in interior quality for an $80k vehicle but it’s really a $50k vehicle with a very expensive new drive system in it. And the drive system is amazing so i’m not complaining about the interior (much).

It it's a Lariat ER is not a $50k vehicle. My 2021 Lariat 502A stickered for $67k and would be over $71k if I were to order the same options on a 2023. And it has the base engine and no moonroof.

I think a lot of it has to do with the Materials Ford chose for the interior of the Lightning. Maybe I am not remembering correctly but the ICE has better interior materials. I would have preferred the 12” screen with the ICE interior materials to be honest.

I'm hyper-critical, and at almost 5k miles, I can say I am VERY happy with mine.

Only quibbles:
• 'tink' sound I've been reporting on in the back seat (hinge on passenger side to be replaced)
• the triangular corner plastic pieces atop each front door (in front of the window)
they would move & make a slight noise only I could hear. I popped each panel off and wrapped the three metal pop-in-brackets in electrical tape, which muted their movement.
• OEM antenna, first thing to be replaced with a shorty. It's got ay too much bend at 75mph.
• tailgate motor raising it sounds like it would be the first thing to quit.
• interface, too easy to turn off AC or turn off full defrost when rotating volume button.
• welcome lights come on when keys are in house and not moving (can see on my security cams), so I bought a radio frequency clocked box for my set of keys.
• warranty work fixed my headliner with insulation after bass was making it flutter.

I think if you could pop it up and off without breaking any tabs, and put on a small piece of 3M double sided cushion tape. it would do the trick. I don't think the part is torqued or anything, I just think there was a missed tab location right there.

This is a very common problem. Friend of mine had it, and so did Alex on Autos. I think it was probably one of their installers who was having an off day. Friend of mine said the dealership adjusted the mount in 10 mins and it was golden.

Even high end trucks have cheap-ish interiors. They use way more materials than a sedan/CSUV so it makes sense an equivalent priced truck would have a cheaper interior quality. My comment was more about comparing to an equivalent sedan/CSUV, it's what I'd expect from a $50-60k mid-sized SUV.

My connectivity keeps failing. I have had to do two resets. Appears to be the same modem and module issue report by some Mach E owners.

Spoke to a software engineer at Ford for one hour (different number than customer service). Able to get connectivity with a reset but after 24 hours the modem fails.

This impacts Ford Pass, streaming and telemetry features, but not navigation as that is GPS based.

It compares poorly to other high-end trucks, too. Our 2019 Ram 1500 Limited had a much better interior than our Lightning Lariat and the dealer mannequin Lightning Platinum that I looked at. There's a lot more hard plastic in the Lightning and the materials (wood, leather, soft-touch plastic) were much better than the Ram. I didn't care for the saddle embroidery panels in the Ram and like the cleaner design in the Lighting.

The Lightning interior looks especially bad compared to the new Sierra Denali Ultimate

IR - bluecruise attention cameras don’t turn off with power off. & not plugged in.

Don’t think you would notice unless there was a reason.
It has rendered my security system/motion detection unusable.

how to test: with truck off use phone camera aim at either sensor if you see red flashing lights then it’s a problem.
