I had a few times where folks walking didnā€™t hear me behind themā€¦ and it felt rude to honk or yellā€¦ so I bought an electric trolley bell from EVWest.com and mounted it under the truck behind the drivers front tire in that recessed area behind the running board. I went to radio shack and bought a momentary push switch that I can hit with my foot which I mounted in the drivers kick panel. Works great and makes people smile. Much better than honking at them. It was easy to route the wires up under the truck to the 12 volt battery (not going through the interior of the truck) Wires to the switch went through an existing rubber grommet in the floor of the truck and under the plastic sill plate up to the kick panel which I didnā€™t need to remove in order to install the switch. I just made sure it was clear behind it and then drilled the correct size hole. I put in an inline fuse right at the battery post connectionā€¦ took about 2 hours all in all Including the trip to radio shack.

Bell sound video added:

I had to laugh at this post. There are people that post that the Pedestrian Alert is too loud, and want to muffle it, and you added more sound. Great example of how no matter what a company does, there's always people who want it different (quieter, louder).

But the most unbelievable part of your post was - You have a Radio Shack?

Yep - need a video of that.

Also - while I have a very noticeable audible noise while backing up - I don't have while driving forward. Once with the windows down I thought I finally heard one, but I'm not sure that is what it is nor that it is consitent.

I'd much rather have something like this vs a noise maker that is on at all times when under 19 MPH or in reverse. Just a quick ding when needed.

Roll your windows down next to another car or a wall or something, or into your garage if you have one. Put the car from P to D and you'll hear it turn on. On the Mach e forum back when it was becoming spring, there were multiple threads with people complaining about some new noise their car was making. In reality, they just had their windows down and were finally hearing what was always there.

Will try again - what I heard was not near as loud nor the same type of sound going forward as it was in reverse.

Yeah, that's by design. Forward is a white-noise like sound. Reverse is the same noise, plus the repeating beep.
