Anybody else have this experience. Have had the truck for 2 month and this is the first time. Roof was definitely closed and came out this morning to water running down the pillar and out of the microphone opening. Saturated headliner, seat and floor. Was parked slightly nose down so not sure if water ran from further back or came in the front. Not that much rain even (was parked inside charging for the rainy day and only got put back outside later in the evening). Do I just write it off as typical Ford? That roof I would expect not to be specific to the Lightning and they should really have that down to not fail in 2 months. Right now, can't even make an appointment at my dealership to get it looked at. Just an "we are busy and will get back to you message" (tried another dealership that I really didn't want to go to with the same outcome).

I hate moon roofs.
On my 15 Lariat, the track broke on Friday afternoon when the window was opened 200 miles from home on a 6 month old truck. Luckily, Ford dealer near where I was visiting pulled it into service bay that evening and did warranted repairs on Saturday.
Did I say I hate moon roofs?

The panoramic roof is designed to leak into a channel and then drain. Sounds like your front drains are either clogged or the drain tube running down the A piller became disconnected. I would take it to the dealer.

Thank you for the note. Hoping that is all. First appointment I could get is the 9th. On the plus side the 10-day forecast in Atlanta shows dry. Will turn it on and let it run on max defrost for a while at lunch hoping it will pull some of the moisture out.

It's amazing to me that Ford still hasn't figured out how to make the sunroof construction reliable. This problem goes all the way back to the first pano roofs on the ICE models and has been reported many many times.

Usually, the drains that run down the A pillars get messed up in manufacturing sometimes. Sometimes, water leaks out the routing channels before it gets to the drains through random rivet holes or other defects.

Have had moonroofs for over 20 years and never liked them.

Never used them either.

Hate them due to the intense heat generated by the glass that hits the top of my balding head.

SR Lightning does not have one and this past summer it was wonderful not to feel the radiant heat overhead..

Going to see how the MME glass roof does when my wife's MME comes in...

MME glass roof lets in no heat at all.

Correct. People have foolishly had them tinted, or bought shades, before determining that they're just throwing money away.

Of course the Mach-E glass roof doesn't open. No drains needed.

I also have an MME and heat from the glass has not been an issue in the year I've had it. You put your hand on the glass roof and it feels warm to hot (Georgia summer) but as far as comfort and feel not a problem (therefore did not worry of the lightning roof, did not think about the water issue). They did a pretty good job on the reflection/insulation film of the glass.

Anybody know what power (kw) heater the Lightning uses? Used the max defrost setting with AC to dry out the inside. Worked well. Assume fan on max and seat fan used some power but was surprised at the amount of power the system used (~9kw/hr based on battery percentage and max available charge; that is more than my home heat pump backup heating element will put out).

Hi there! Would you send us a private message with your VIN and dealership name and location? I’d like to look into this concern on my end.

Just for an update At the dealership right now where I waited a week and a half to get an appointment. I walk in and get told that they were about 14 days backed up. I started losing it. There was no call. No indication they would not be able to help. I don't believe it unreasonable to get something like this taken care off in less than a month (really don't believe that is an answer to anybody that requires warranty service for anything). After complaining I got told he could find someone (3rd party) to look at it maybe today. Should it really take a lot of complaining to have something like this serviced. Bought a Ford because I expected to be able to get it serviced. I am going to leave it and hope they actually park in inside since it's supposed to be raining for the next week. If it's wet inside I really don't want the truck back and hope that Ford will buy it back since I really don't believe there won't be issues with it later.

Up to this point reliability on a 150 thousand dollars worth of Fords bought in the last year is about zero s (I have a Mach-E with a contactor that I am waiting to fail any day).

The Mach-E's heater is 5kW. Don't know if the Lightning is the same.

7500 miles and drove through heavy rain yesterday - got a constant drip from around the small mic that is mounted above the driver door. Back to the dealer - hooray.

Time to bring this up again. Was supposed to be "repaired" in November. Walked out opened the truck door this morning (rained about an inch overnight which is not unusual for here and has done so a few times over the last few month). A pool of water in the bottom with the seat and the headliner soaked. Its sitting in the garage now plugged in with max heat running to dry out. When I saw the repair the last time, which amounted to realign roof panels and glue (with the truck returned to me within three hours) I should have known. I have some slight empathy for a manufacturing error (and not a lot for this common an item) but I have absolutely zero empathy for shotty repairs.
Tried to schedule an appointment at the dealer that I brought it to last time, and bought the vehicle from, and they have no availability in the next few weeks to even bring it on and talk to a service advisor. In Atlanta so there are other options and found a dealer that at least from their online portal let me set up an appointment for this coming week (closed today, will call in the morning).
