Remote Start, Odd Interaction with Frunk

I just noticed today that if I remote start my Lightning, then while it's started...unlock it, and open the frunk my truck turns off. I did it twice to verify.

Slightly frustrating, as I was trying to load the frunk while my cabin was getting to an optimal temperature. It's not the biggest issue, just struck me as odd. I recall some ICE vehicles shut off if the trunk is opened due to potential exhaust issues (vans especially), but we don't have that problem.

Since I did it twice (to verify) I wasn't able to remote start again until I actually sat in my truck and started it.

Anyone else notice this? If so, is this by design, or maybe a weird frunk interaction similar to how the frunk won't open from the keyfob unless the truck is unlocked?

It happens on mine too. I just try to remember it and plan accordingly. You are not able to close the frunk with the grill button if the doors are locked also. You’d figure it would be smart enough to let you close it but not open it with the doors locked.

Early on, most of us noticed that quirk, no mention of this behavior being corrected with a future update yet.

In an ICE vehicle, if you open the hood, you cannot remote start. Never tested if you remote started, could you open the hood after. It was not for exhaust, it was to prevent an engine start while someone is working on the engine.

In my ICE, after remote start I caught my coveralls on hood release, engine shut off. I don't recall what the dash said.

I used the search function, it must have been buried in an unrelated thread. Sorry.

I reread the "Luggage Compartment" portion of the manual. There is no mention of remote start being shut off or not being able to press the button to close it if the truck is locked.

I hope some of the funky Frunk quirks (cannot close via button on frunk if truck is locked and this quirk) do get a "fix". For all I know this might have a real programmed intention, it's just not listed in the manual.

I did learn that our trucks have pinch point sensors. I guessed that's what it was as I hadn't seen those strips in previous F-150's.
