Unfortunately this happens all the time as prices on things fluctuate. And it happens with everything not just EVs. Usually the prices go UP however.

People get upset when they buy just before the price decrease but no one ever seems to say anything when they buy right before the price increase.

You paid the asking price of the truck day you signed the contract. In hindsight it's disappointing, absolutely, but nobody has a crystal ball. And anyone at ford who knew about the price decrease would be accused of market manipulation and/or insider trading if they shared that information with anyone before it became public knowledge.

So likely even in california where laws seemingly are written to harm more than help, you don't have a case.

Nor should you. The price you agreed to pay was the price on the paper you signed. And if my consumer law professor is to be believed (debatable) and you entered into a side agreement with the dealer against published Ford pricing policy, it is possible you are in as much trouble as the dealer will be. So I would say don't poke that hornet's nest.
I would recommend contacting Ford.

800-565-3673

I Purchased Lighting June 14,2023 at Old Price called Ford after price decrease.

Ford gave me a case number and told me they are looking in to compensation.
I’ll keep you posted.

Please do keep us in the loop.

I sincerely hold nothing against you or anyone who paid more in June than they would in July and therefore aren't happy. I wouldn't be either. Yet as a businessman, I would curse my bad timing nothing more.

I figure they are simply giving you a case number, hoping you'll calm down and nothing will happen while you patiently wait as they "look into compensation." I can't imagine they are actually considering it. Truth be told, if they start handing out refunds, I'll look heavily at selling my F stock.

To what end would they refund money? To maybe keep a few hundred customers happy with a refund while continuing to keep hundreds of thousands of stock holders unhappy by continuing to not be a viable and profitable business unit? I'd love to hear that earnings call... "We actually made more money than this last quarter, but some people were cranky they bought early and ended up making more than their golf buddy so we gave them their money back. Oh, and BTW, the price cuts didn't move the needle on sales volume. It just made the cars we did sell less profitable. But again, the important part is we scored a couple of brownie points with customers who had already bought a vehicle from us."

If they aren't interested in profitability, I'll move my money elsewhere. Unfortunately for Ford, if they keep it up, everyone will. They can't keep posting red and stay in business. I expect they adjusted price to be competitive going forward. However doubling down on the future guaranteed lower margins by returning earned profit? What?! Particularly while they are obviously facing doubt about future sales and therefore lowered MSRP. This is simply not good business practice.

i agree. there should be a class action lawsuit for recoup at least part of reduction for anyone that paid full price approx. 60 days prior to $8k price cut.

there are several postings regarding class action on the TESLA price cuts although i don't see any particular law firm pursuing yet.

if interested google search "lawsuit Tesla price reduction"
What is the tort? What are the damages? No one on this thread has alleged an actual tort or how they were damaged. Maybe there's a case to be made but I don't see it.*

* I'm not a lawyer and.this is definitely not legal advice.

I just like the thought of them getting a class action and then everyone involved get $14 bucks and the lawyer team and expert witnesses gets 10.4 million.

Would be nice to get media attention on this and investigate why Ford increased the price drastically and then dropped it drastically within 6 months. What is the impact on loyal customers and early adopters of new tech and to warn future Ford Customers that it’s best to wait and not purchase early. We kept the factory going and were proponents of Fords newest vehicle and this is what we get. Lesson learned I guess. I expected rebates would be coming but nothing this drastic that impacted our vehicle resale so drastically within a few months.

Its simple Ford has stock holders it has to answer to and make the most cash it can. They were not making enough on the product so raised prices 2-3 times to cover losses or brake even point and ended up shooting to high and loosing sales that equaled less money than they would be making at a lower price point so they dropped the price back down to maximize margins.

The number of people effected is very small and in that number most are smart enough to know that they made a deal and its to late to adjust it now so they deal with it.

You had to have been happy with the price when you purchased it or you would not have signed on the dotted line.

Clearly understand the financial numbers and how Wall Street sees things is what motivates big business and their executives. I expected rebates would be announced to position Ford with the pending competition vs a huge MSRP reduction. Based on precedent set on Mach e in March I felt we, those that followed through on our Lightning reservations and purchased at the higher price, would be treated the same way or at least provided some compensation (Ford Pass points, charging or extending services such as Blue Cruise, Etc.) if this happened. I guess not.

$14? That's wishful thinking. More like 1500 FordPass Reward Points...

as far as I know any wave up to like 6 or 7 that followed though did get some kind of price protection. This thread is not about that or at least I don't think it is.

I think that all of us that paid the extra 10K before the price reduction should talk about what as a group we should do?
I Purchased Lighting June 14,2023 at Old Price called Customer Relationship Centre at 1-800-565-3673 after price decrease.

Ford gave me a case number and told me they are looking in to compensation.

I’ll keep you posted.
