Which is odd to me. When you see it in person, the Front Dash looks like it's half the interior cabin space, there is a large amount of room there. Im not sure what Tesla was thinking.

Yep.
Tesla has failed the ergonomics test on every vehicle.
The interior is spartan...not necessarily bad.
When I look at the angle of the back seat roofline entry, I just imagine people banging their heads on it constantly.
We are swimming in interior space in our Lightnings.

Tesla should use the Hagerty review for marketing. It’s edgy like the truck and it’s Tesla’s style. It’s the best review of the CT in my opinion. I want one as well and will happily pay sticker for the AWD. This will be the first time I have ever done that. I’m happy that Tesla priced the CT as they did. It will help knock off many reservation holders looking for a $40-50k CT. I am about 300k on the list and ready to buy. Healthy profit margins will also help the stock long term. Expect Tesla to lower prices late next year after early adopter demand is met.

They will only lower the price if no one is buying them. The online Review Hype has people holding on to their Reservations.

They really wanted to hold that angle on the windshield, therefore to get the headroom needed for the front row, you need the huge dash wasting all that interior space.

The decision to go with stainless had a cascading effect. The loss of the exoskeleton due to weight, the fingerprints, the lack of a aero shape with the sharp angles due to issues of stretching the stainless into smooth curves, and the shape edges pointed out by Brownlee:

Makes sense, that's a lot of space though. I've never seen that long of a dash.

Not that impressed with the Cybertruck. Heck he won't even put the Tesla brand anywhere on the truck. Glad I made the choice of the Lightning.

Things I will not have to concern myself about with a Lightning compared with a Cybertruck

1. I will be able to see out my rear view mirror.
2. I don't need to worry about loosing steering because of power failure. The planes might have fly by wire but they also have a dual system back up just in case.
3. I do not need to carry a bow of Stainless Steel wipes for all the finger prints on the truck.
4. I will not need a 20 boxes of band aids for all the cuts and scrapes me or my passengers get by bushing up to all the sharp corner on the truck. (The truck that you can commit hari kari when all is lost)
5. I don't have to worry about getting a flat tire I have a full size spare.
6. Living in Florida I don't have to worry about a 4 ft windshield wiper being ripped off during a hurricane.
7. At least I have a few knobs and switches I can manually operate
8. All my doors have handles and full framing around the windows to keep sealed and not leak over time.

Things that could possibly make me concerned, but pretty rare since I don't have these problems.
1. I cannot tow a sled as far.
2. I cannot carry as much in the bed of my truck
3. I may get beaten in a 0-60 race.
4. In the event I have the mafia after me or drive into a riot I am not protected against bullets or baseballs.

And finally what I wish I had on the Lightning that the Cybertruck has.
1. Adaptive Air Suspension so I could adjust the height of my truck.

yes. I think that’s the point. Many people were holding out because the expectation was considerable amount of range over the lightning / faster and cost less. ford was investing billions and racing to build batteries with Chinese companies for the fear Tesla cracked the code on range and price with the CT

was it a brilliant Trojan horse by Elon to make these OEM waist billions in development while they tighten and improve efficiencies the past two years ? Maybe so. Interesting Ford /GM all the sudden cut way back on EV spending a few weeks before Tesla came out last week with their CT configurations.

If the CT was anything remotely close to what musk was pedaling when I put in a reservation - I would switch - now it’s not worth it and as a lightning owner you now really appreciate what Ford has done and feel as an owner - the lightning is an incredibly good product.

Musk definitely influenced Ford to produce and price the Lightning accordingly. The F150 platform is so good that electrifying it only added to its appeal. As far as innovation, there isn’t any. If you can get beyond the CT looks, there is innovation that will change the industry. The proposed 500 mile range was vaparware from the start. Battery energy density and cost currently don’t support larger heavier batteries. I knew CT would not have a bigger battery than the ER Lightning. It’s not Tesla’s style to prioritize a larger/heavier battery over efficiency/scalability. Musk said as much during the Ford & Farley SC announcement. It’s charger and not range anxiety. Choose ICE for long distance towing and for off road use.

The Range Extender is a significant new concept: a 30-40kWh removable battery pack that rides in the bed. Certainly could be duplicated in a Lightning! Cost unknown, but a 14kWh Tesla Powerwall costs about $13k, and weighs 250lbs…. so, Cybertruck Range Extender is likely $25k+, and 500lbs+. Still, a clever way to meet/exceed Silverado EV range, as an optional upgrade, rather than building an enormous battery pack into every truck.

Except its not removable on the Tesla. Its dealer/factory install.

Has anyone seen this? According to Tesla’s website, the CyberTruck’s consumption is 42.9kWh/100mi (429Wh/mi). In non-Tesla that is 2.33mi/kWh.

Tesla says they get 10% efficiency loss when they leave the bed cover open.
Some dudes studied the aero of a typical F150 and concluded you could get 10% improvement just by adding a sloped cover over the bed.

This is puzzling. Tesla had a clean slate and they came up with a 0.39 coefficient of drag. It's pretty underwhelming compared to Lightning's 0.44 and pathetic against the 0.30 Rivian.

Presumably, Ford's T3 will be an efficiency improvement. It will probably look weird but if it's going to look weird it might as well be efficient.

Aerodynamic coefficients without the accompanying frontal area are not really meaningful.
Aero coefficients only measure how much better the shape is compared to a flat sharp-edged object of the same frontal area. And its not clear to me which has the smaller frontal area. The CT has those bigger wheels and tires and fender flares sticking out and a fairly high peak on the roof line.

The back seat also looks quite tight. Maybe that's how the did the magic of more bed space, yet shorter overall.

CT has shorter nose as well, that's why its overall length is 9 inches shorter and frunk is so small.

But the cabin is squeezed and the bed volume is much smaller and feels muchless open. I would like to see CT truch but with Lightning size cabin and a full-size bed with enough openings. CT is not a real work truck.

There is a huge market for not real work trucks. The main reason I like a full size truck is because I have two booster seats and a car seat across the back. The Cybertruck isn't that much smaller than an F150. It would probably work for me. I use my truck as a truck but I'm not running a landscaping company.
