Hi everyone,

I'm encountering a peculiar issue with my F-150 Lightning and could use some insights. The rear passenger seat map light is behaving erratically. Here's what's happening:

  1. The light randomly turns on and off while I'm driving.
  2. It doesn't respond when I try to use it manually. Pressing the button has no effect.
  3. The front map lights and their respective buttons don't seem to control it.
  4. When I open the doors, and all the interior lights should come on, this particular light stays off.
  5. Additionally, the small blue indicator light, which shows the light is operational, is also out.
Has anyone experienced something similar or have any suggestions on what might be causing this and how to fix it? I'm wondering if it's a wiring issue or something else.

I have a 2023 Platinum with 12k miles and this is my first issue. Been a flawless experience so far.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I also have a platinum as well and I think it sounds like an issue with the wiring. They might need to drop the headliner too to get access to it.

Since it’s under warranty, I would just take it in. Worse case, they can disconnect the LED for you so it can stop annoying while they are getting parts.

Don't know if it's a related issue. I have a 2023 Lariat ER. A fair fraction of the time, when I shut down the vehicle, I get a message on the dash to please check the rear seats for a passenger who's not there. I have a large shopping bag full of "stuff" on the rear floor behind the driver's seat, and sometimes, I have a large empty shopping bag on the rear passenger's seat behind the driver's seat. I was wondering what triggers such messages? Could a seat belt be out of position, or its sensor mechanism defective? The empty shopping bag on the back passenger's seat could hardly be more than a pound or two (it's an insulated freezer bag).

There is a switch in settings to disable that warning, the switch off expires annually so you'll need to reselect off again in the future.

The light randomly turns on and off while I'm driving.
Defective switch is my guess, let the service department confirm and repair.

Hi there! Will you send us a message with your VIN and your local Ford dealer? I can look into things on my end.
