Ford F-150 Lightning What is this shiz? Recent app row showing website URL? IMG_2742

The SYNC recent app row is showing a host name for the Charge Assist app? So it seems this app is simple a web app. Cool. But why show the host name? @Ford Motor Company

This is actually really interesting and allows us to learn a bit more about the system.

First off, Ford signs their own security certs, which is fine, because they control the trust chain. It doesn't work in my browser presumably because the location protocols are different and it doesn't seem to know where I am.

Ford uses mapping data from here.com, which makes sense as they sell packages for fleet management and automatic driving. Also makes sense why they want to charge subscriptions for it. It looks very use-based pricing, and especially with the traffic, can really get up there in price

Ford is using a webpacked React-Native app, so not 100% a "simple web app" it's intended to compile to a native Android or iOS app. I always suspected it was a React based app, but it's nice to have confirmation. This explains a lot of the "out of sync" issues as I have found that most web developers have trouble really understanding React state management.

Probably an update happening, the end user shouldn't see that.

if I open the Charge Assist app, either from the recent or from Home Screen, and then navigate away (to CarPlay for instance) the recent button then shows Charge Assist….

Until I turn off the vehicle. When I start the vehicle again, back to URL.

it has been this way since about 12/20.

Have you tried a sync system reset or a 12V reset?
