This Saturday morning, as I was preparing for our trip to Indy tomorrow (120 miles) to see the Eclipse on Monday, I started our Lightning, and the passenger rear window immediately rolled down and stayed down! With visions of a windy frosty trip to Indy in my head I drove straight to our Ford dealer (Zeigler Ford) because their service department is open on Saturdays. Jack in service reassured me that they would at least try to get the window back up. 45 minutes later it was completely fixed! They replaced the master control switch on the driver's door.

What would have been days of planning and time off work, and hours of windy and cold driving in a Tesla or a Rivian was pretty much just a blip - under 1 hour from discovery to solved! The common F-150 platform and dealer network really came through!

Yup, it's unfortunately a common f150 problem.

Happened to me last year as I was about to drive down the highway for 4 hrs. I was able to remove the door panel and manually raise it quite easily and carried on my trip. Called the dealer when they opened and they were able to order the part but it was backorder at the time. Took some weeks to get the part, they changed it no problem.

Enjoy the eclipse, we caught it in 2017 and it is truly an awesome (literally) experience. So glad we can see it again this year, totality is only a couple hours away. Fingers crossed for clear skies!

Definitely!🤞 Indy has a good forecast. We were under cloud cover in 2017. Not sure I'll make it to 2045...

I wish there were more dealers like that. It takes weeks or even months to get an appointment at my dealer, and when you actually arrive for your repair, they rarely look at it for a few days of it just sitting on the lot.

Is it really underrated, though? If the average service experience were that good, I’d agree with you. I’d wager that it’s far from it, and I’ve never seen anything close to that. I think you had an unusually good experience with a great dealer.

It was a special case, with exceptional service, so it wouldn't be fair to expect that on average. Still, there is at least the opportunity of this happening for far more people thanks to the common platform and the dealership network. If it doesn't happen, then that seems the fault of the individual dealership.

I did purchase the vehicle there, so not sure if that affected things, but it did make it nice as I didn't even have to give them my name or fill out a form with them. I got to go watch basketball in the waiting area and they took care of everything.

My average experience with them has been that they delivered what they promised, when they promised. For the latest round of CSPs they came and picked up the truck and brought it back that evening. Before that they performed other CSPs and replaced a window with bubbled tint from the factory. All these were simple, and common-platform-ish, so I don't know how it'll go when I get the dreaded battery fault. I'm not looking forward to finding out on that one regardless of how it turns out. :)

Living in a small city in the Midwest does have some advantages. :)

I imagine Tesla and Ford are on a more even playing field around NYC. My nearest Tesla service center is a couple of hours drive away.

Yes, That is what I'm afraid of, when I need service. My local dealer was reluctant to negotiate the purchase, so I went else where. I don't have a lot of faith in their service Dept. . .
