Hopefully they ship steadily from this point forward. A couple hundred a week and we don’t sit until May while they build up inventory and do another large drop.

I'm in the high 200s for both my adapters and one arrived Sunday while the other has not. No shipping notification at all for the one that was delivered, just a FedEx notification.

[EDIT: found conf email]

Am I remembering/understanding correctly that with the below order number I’ve got a few years (or at least many monthsleft to wait 🤣

Order Number:
FAE:90034541

Ford site says August, but I presume that’s a Ford-esque optimistic estimate

I’ve not been following closely for the last few months, but vaguely understand there are already some third-party NACS adaptors available for purchase?

Is there a clear consensus on which of these 3rd party alternatives are better all-things-considered?

Could really use a NACS adaptor sooner than later

To get you up to speed:

The A2Z model is the one everyone is using if you can't wait for the free Ford one. However, the ship time for these are now about a month as Rivian has opened up to Tesla as well.

There is a Tesla supercharger OTA that'll allow you to use FordPass to charge the truck but you know how OTAs are if you don't have it you can still charge using the adapter and the Tesla app.

Not a promising week. Seems like a drop shipment of about 1500 (1000 to early reservations and a random amount to #7000+) and then nothing. Would imply we are gonna wait a couple weeks until the next shipment arrives from China. Hopefully that one is a much larger one.

The other possibility is Tesla is limiting the deployment speed to measure impact and control the noise. So it’s possible they already have a large number in the states but can only ship them at certain rates per agreement with Tesla. Might also explain the random rollout to the 7000s as they figured the people who jumped on early were the more likely users so shipping 500-1000 to later reservations would temper the demand a bit.

Hoping to see the next drop sooner rather than later but looks like it’ll be another week at least - hopefully not May 1…

China? Not sure about that. Seems there were reports that Tesla is making them in Buffalo, NY.

Not sure though.

If stateside manufacturing then there’s even less reasons to throttle other than Tesla requirements. Storing adapters vs drop shipping them is a waste of money… of course if Tesla is making them in Buffalo at the Supercharger facility they’d fully control the rate and would be willing to warehouse them to keep the flow down. Then ship them to Dearborn for processing and ship out. Resulting in even larger delays. And more cost. For a feee adapter. Makes one shake their head at times.

Will watch the next couple weeks and see. Someone with an adapter should be able to look at the manufacturing info to see where it was made.

My guess is that they ran 1500 units as a final test of the production in March and now they are in the process of moving the production line to a contract manufacturer. The CM should be up and running before the end of April to start deliveries in May.
