I had some initial challenges with an early battery module recall
Not sure if I understand this correctly. Did you have HVB modules replaced? If yes at what mileage?

Congrats on hitting 100K. It gives me hope.

There were a couple hundred trucks at the very beginning of shipping that needed one battery module replaced. It was annoying but that was the only battery related item I remember. This was a recall, I never had the problem. Because I run up the miles so fast it happened around 50K. There was some miscommunication between FMC and the dealership that delayed getting it taken care of.

Congratulations. And thank you for the details about your likes / usage / etc. My 22 ER Lariat was manufactured in May of 2022, but I've only gone 12k miles. In the winter, it sits in the garage of my condo (as I live in the city -- Boston -- and I can walk to most everything.) In the summer, I go back and forth to our camp in Maine (where the CSP is installed.) LOVE this truck, as does my Red Lab who has the entire back floor area to himself (seats are up and under seat storage is closed) with a four inch dog cushion; he loves being in the truck.

90% home charging using the Ford Charger derated to 15.9kwh. 2 round trips of > 3200 miles. Several 800-1000 mile trips and dozens of 200-400 mile trips. I'm not even going to attempt to count up the 76-125 mile trips because everything is 38 miles away. EVERY TIME I pull into the driveway I plug in. Only failed to do so twice in two years (it was surprisingly shocking when I discovered I hadn't plugged in) . For the vast majority of the two years the charge level feature was set to 90%. Charges to 100% were very rare. I recently tried only charging to 70% and 80% but ended up coming home below 20% and 10% way to often.
1. So - you went through 3 sets of tires?
2. And 2-3 12v batteries?
3. Brake pads & other worn parts?
4. Did Ford service fix BlueCruise so it performs correctly or like for me - they've punted on it w/4 attempts?
Thank you.

  1. I'll buy my third set in a few thousand miles. Just checked the tread depth and I have probably 10K more to go.
  2. I have not replaced the 12v battery at all
  3. Brakes are doing fine but I'm going to put in for the 100,000 mile service shortly.
  4. BlueCruise is better than it was but it is still annoying.

To be very clear. I have had nearly no maintenance done on this truck other than the tires, cabin air filter, topping off the coolant, and the recalls. I've spent extremely little money on this truck over the past two years.

That is good mileage on the tires - probably all-season tires.
I had a 12v die/replaced after 5,000 miles or so as have many others.
BlueCruise - going back in soon for a 5th try to fix.

Just in case anyone was wondering what tires I am using:
General Grabber HTS 60
Size: 275/60R20
Load Range XL
Service Desc: 116T = 2765lbs and a Speed Rating of 118 mph.
50,000 mile warranty for light trucks.

If you are willing to go down to a R55 tire you get "H" rating to give you 130 mph and another 68lbs of load per tire.

Congratulations!

Just skimming through the thread, I didn't see if you have the SR or ER battery?

Thanks for your post... this puts my mind more at ease.

ER, I'm of the mind if you consider all of the drawbacks of current battery technology getting anything less than a 300 miles is seriously less than ideal except in a small subset of circumstances. In fact, I believe a 500 mile EPA range should be the minimum for a pickup. If this was the case, EV trucks would be flying out of the dealership even in the current economic conditions.

I agree with youbfor sure on these trucks need best range possible. Are you considering the Chevy or Ram next? I passed on the Chevy, so am considering waiting for the Ram, but most likely not 1st year.

Funny, I was just looking at one today. I'm very interested in them but I have way to many miles on the Lightning and its trade in value would be pathetic ($40K maybe). I'm going to keep this one until 2028 and/or 300,000 miles, which ever comes first. My entire purchase decision was justified on getting 300,000 miles with reasonable maintenance. So by 2028, their prices should be lower. If something unexpected happens to upset my plans, then I'll take another look at the Chevy. I want to get an electric car later this year on maybe next. The Aptera, with the 1000 mile battery, is looking interesting and the price is right. Now if they would just get to building them.
