That website is only used if the dealer provides tax credit at the time of sale. If you are going to claim the tax credit on your own, there is nothing for the dealer to do.
You could not be more wrong. The dealer should have done this for you in the deal.

The MSRP minus destination fees to your lingo. This is done by the dealer…you are wrong bc I know.
IOW, you know that you're right because you know that you right?

How many EVs have you bought that you "had to educate so many dealers"?
You’d be surprised to know that many that I talked with had no idea that they they are the ones to do this…have no idea why many did not know. The ones that do this educated me…got it?

Contrary to what you think, there is a difference between dealer including the tax credit as part of the deal and buyer filing for the tax credit in the tax return.

You have the option to do it yourself or have the dealer do it on their IRS website. Why not have the dealer do it?

Got it. You refuse to acknowledge the difference between dealer including the tax credit as part of the deal and buyer filing for the tax credit in the tax return.

What is the difference that you speak of? Them not knowing? Or you didn’t know they did this? Or you did know but chose them not to do it? Curious

The OP, @JoshF150 said: I was ok with just getting out at tax time.

Glad you asked. The difference is that if you plan to file for the credit on your own, there is nothing for the dealer to do.

Lesson learned for others. If your dealer does not do ”Point of Sale” tax credit for you, then just walk away. We should be rewarding dealers that are participating with the program.

Not worth the hassle or the long wait to see if dealership files paperwork correctly for you to get the tax credit.

Cash for Clunkers was 20 years ago. That excuse by dealership no longer holds any water.

Read what @JoshF150 said. Since he was planning to file for the credit on his own, there was nothing for the dealer to do.
