My @A2ZEV just came today and I will say I am sad that their quality control is not great. While I have not used the adapter yet, the foam of the carrying case is not attached on the lid or even cut to fit snug to the case. So it falls in and out every time you open the case. Small thing, but if you miss the obvious things, what did they miss we can’t see🤷‍♂️.

Then the adapter has that wonderful cheap “burnt electrical” smell I have come to expect from TEMU.

Will have to make a trip to a Tesla station this weekend or next to try it out. 🤞

Regarding the foam, we have taken down your recommendation.
The smell is not the burnt electrical smell, it comes from the UL94 flame-retardant nylon 66 external casing and the full insulation inside of the adapter.

To be fair, we have delivered more then 15,000 of these adapters since the 5th of January 2023, there has never been a single safety event, overheating, premature failure endangering people's life and such. Every single adapter is tested and inspected twice in our own factory in China and retested/inspected again in our facilities in Montreal. Recently, we acquired multiple V3 connectors to ensure fitment is perfect before it leaves. Inspection and packaging are not done by the same team.

We are also part of the SAE J3400 and J3400/1 committee and our adapter has been teared down, tested and stressed by the vast majority of OEMs if not all of them. Being part of the SAE committee allowed us to bring our ideas, learn about the standard and abide by it. We are doing all we can and maybe more than any EV charging adapter manufacturer regarding safety and we will keep on giving our 100% to ensure customer's safety.

There is nothing hidden that you can't see.
We are 100% focused on the customer, where when he needs help charging or understanding how to initiate the charging process, we take the time to hop on a call or even on Facetime to ensure every single customer is satisfied.

Funny. Mine arrived a couple days ago and I had the opposite reaction. I ordered the set with the destination charger and I was impressed that both came with a carrying case and both felt SOLID. Plan to give them both a test this weekend, but everything screamed quality to me. Hopefully, the functionality will match my first impressions of the adapters. However, based on the responses I have seen here, I’m sure if I have a hiccup at all, A2Z will be quick to respond.

That’s not at all my experience and I haven’t heard anyone else with problems. The A2Z adapter is one of the best built products I‘ve bought in a while. It does have a smell but not anything unusual for a new product with molded plastic parts. The only legitimate complaint is that their tolerances are probably a little too tight so it can take some effort to get the J3400 lock to slide.

Glad you are happy with yours.

I am more concerned with the operation, but from years of quality control, customer experience, and program management left me with a less “SOLID” initial impression.

Like not mentioned, no retail box? So did I get a “bulk rate”? Again small things. I appreciate less packaging so don’t really mind that one, but does make it seem like a cheap knockoff product experience I would expect from eBay or TEMU.

The best thing is they delivered compared to Ford and Tesla so they are ahead in that category. 🤣😂

Again I hope it works. Long term it will likely go to my daughter for her Ioniq Electric if it gets the ability to charge at SCs once I get my offical adapter.

It really is not a huge issue. Little spray adhesive or hot glue. More just an Oopsie and does leave that “do I really trust this for my truck” feeling with the glaring 🤦‍♂️.

I received my A2Z adapter 2 weeks after ordering it in April. I've used it a dozen or more times so far without any issues & it's made several X-country trips much easier. The case it came with is adequate and fits in my "Adapter & Chargers" bag I carry in the Lightning I'm driving. Still waiting on the Ford adapter, supposed to be this month, sometime.
