Tesla non-members pay $0.51 per kWh while members pay $0.38 per kWh, a 13 cent difference. The cost of the Tesla membership is $13/month making the breakeven point 100 kw per month.
Is it a simple matter to join for just one month, then cancel? I do this with EA since I travel infrequently and it works great.

Yes…..that is the way to do it.
On that P&C issue, Ford is asking us if we prefer FordPass to recognize our memberships with EA and/or Tesla and charge us discounted membership prices. Don’t know how this can be done without Ford asking for a fee per transaction.
I’m guessing Ford will never run P&C without wanting a fee since pretty much all automakers these days are gung-ho on recurring subscription revenue. I’d highly doubt you’ll ever to get Ford to match the price of going to the Tesla app directly.

Imagine if every time you filled a gas vehicle, Ford was taking a fee from the gas station and charging you a higher price per gallon for the convenience of not having to put your credit card in the pump. That’s essentially what’s happing in the EV space.

Really to fix fast charging in the US we need two things, a lot more networks in competition so there is pricing pressure, and payment terminals on all charging stations for direct payment to the operator of the station.

We do have a real problem that fast charging today is more expensive than an equivalent gas vehicle, and that will continue to stunt EV adoption rates when people hear of $50 fast charging sessions to get what is equivalent to a half tank of gas worth of range.

Just received the adapter from Ford

My email from Ford was 2/29/2024, 1500 (3pm), but my number is FAE:90023720. So 20,000 orders at least that day? All them Mach-Es probably.

What do you think chances of losing adapter by leaving it at charger are? Probably not a lot since one could not put the handle back in place without removing the adapter. But I know I will set that thing down while rehanging, and that will be the last I see of it! Better think of it as I do my wallet. Would be a bummer to lose.

Glue an Airtag or Tile tracker to that thing as soon as it arrives :)

My adapter was sitting on my porch since Tuesday I finally got back from vacation and got my first charge under my belt. That's the highest initial kw peak on any charge session I've had

14280, original "Ship By" said June. Got e-mail today saying that Ford "appreciates you" and to check my status. "Ship by" still says June. Fingers crossed.

Stick an Apple AirTag to it…it will remind you if you leave it somewhere…

Anyone have a short (3 - 6 feet) charging port extension cable to recommend? I've been reading about problems folks have reaching the Tesla chargers without taking up multiple spaces.
