I am not sure which update did this, probably the one that said it was making background changes to the display (which apparently - finally - gave me the battery percentage on the range ring).

I ride the ferries and it is absolutely necessary to be able to turn off the alarm system because the motion will set it off, scare the hell out of the cats, annoy other drivers, and lead to the ferry announcement “will the owner of a silver Ford return to the car deck and secure their alarm system. The motion of the ferry will set it off. Thank you.”

I had it set to ask at shutdown if I wanted the alarm system enabled, but any settings related to the alarm have disappeared from the settings menu. (A previous update reset my preference which led to the embarrassment above, but then I was able to reset it). I know what I am doing but it appears impossible to disable the alarm system now, which means that I have to sit in the truck for the whole hour. Leaving the truck unlocked is not an option - trust me, I live here.

So what do I do, Ford? Anybody know where the fuse for the alarm system is (that is what I had to do with my Audi.)

Shutoff power off timer.
Turn HVAC off.
Turn headlights to Off.
Leave truck running.
Lock door with bottom 2 buttons on keypad.

This still may not work, the sensor that detects a change in incline, i.e. like someone jacked it up, may still go off.

I just got another update (this one appears to have changed the button icons on the top of the screen) and the alarm setting is still missing.

This is what I don’t like about over the air updates, stuff that was working fine before stops working or disappears. I have a Lariat SR, perhaps their latest SW build thinks that no SR vehicles have the alarm system. If they delete the folding mirrors next I’m going to be super upset.

I also really dislike stuff moving in menus or (especially) disappearing from menus. You waste so much time looking for something that is no longer there.

Thanks. It is a 2023 Lariat SR (yes, I know that combination doesn’t exist anymore). I’ll update the year In the profile.

Thanks, having this data at our fingertips really helps add context as we write about experiences with our trucks.

BTW, the alarm settings / switches are still available on my 22 Lariat-ER
