Hi guys. I bought a XLT back in 2022 and shipped it to Barbados. It’s working perfect and has had no issues. However, I’m coming up on some mileage to change fluids and I generally just want to have it looked over.
So I’m looking for a technician that can be flown to Barbados and service it. Any help on where to start would be appreciated as Ford is no help.

Is a specialist needed for fluid changes? I would think any ICE mechanic should be OK.

It's possibly early, unless you have 150,000 miles already.

Many of the other tasks like coolant strength test should be easy for your local Ford tech's like on ICE vehicles, brakes, etc.

No only 30k miles. Thought I read somewhere it needed to be done at like 35k. I also have had no updates or recalls sorted. Ford can’t do OTA updates outside USA either.
That alone is a good reason to fly in a technician with his laptop.

But most of the other issues are routine drive line inspections that likely won't require parts or fluid changes.

You are supposed to change the brake fluid every 3 years regardless of mileage.

One would think a brake service is universal procedure that any competent Ford Service shop can handle. ICE/BEV

my local Ford dealer, at my recent 50,000 miles 'check up', only checked my brake pads, which were almost non-used... they almost 'laughed' when I came in - they had nothing to do to 'check' the truck. This is one of the most underestimated and discussed VALUES of an EV. Think about HOW MANY TIMES you would have taken a typical gas-based vehicle in for servicing, maintenance, and the typical concerns during a 50,000 mile, two-year ownership....

Like McDonalds, "I'm Lovin It"... : )

I wish they knew what to do. Would be easy. The technicians there have never even seen my truck. They asked me to bring it so they can see what it looks like. The only 3 ford EV on island are my Lightning and two Mustangs. The dealerships here are nothing compared to Stateside. The fluid changing is not hard. I just want professionals that won’t screw up the truck.

You might want to open your manual which has the scheduled maintenance in it. Or, the Ford dealership can lookup the VIN and it tells them.

The Ford systems tell the techs exactly what to do. While there are things that require specialized EV training and equipment, they can see in their systems exactly that.

Any tech with knowledge can do the module updates, they are not EV-specific.

Can an OTA via WiFi instead of from the cellular modem in the TCU? If so, just get a VPN to do OTA's

With the OTA updates not being available I would invest in a laptop / Vehicle Communication Interface (VCI), get a power supply and get the truck updated yourself.
It’s pretty bulletproof and if you are fairly competent the software is designed for auto techs who are not tech people at all. I got my setup for my old Mach E and just buy a 2d license a few times a year to update.

Take a look through the FDRS threads on the forum, there are guides and helpful people there if you need it.

Fluids and filters on the drive units I wouldn’t start to think about that until the 90k mi range unless you are putting the drivetrain through hell towing max capacity every day driving it sideways. Then I would say 50k
