SSM 53236 2021-2023 F-150 Non-Lightning, 2022-2024 F-150 Lightning/Expedition/Navigator, 2024 Ranger – "Trailer Brake Module Fault" Message Displayed In IPC And DTCs U0137 And/Or U0252 In The BCM, IPC And/Or PSCM |
Some 2021-2023 F-150 non-Lightning, 2022-2024 F-150 Lightning/Expedition/Navigator, and 2024 Ranger vehicles may exhibit a "trailer brake module fault" message in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) U0137 and/or U0252 stored in the body control module (BCM), IPC and/or power steering control module (PSCM). This may be due to the trailer module (TRM) not communicating in the controller area network (CAN). Replacement of the module will not correct the condition. To correct this condition, disconnect the 12-volt vehicle battery and the TRM connectors and let the vehicle sit for at least 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, reconnect the 12-volt vehicle battery and TRM connectors and reprogram the TRM to the latest software level using the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) scan tool. For claiming, use causal part number 19H332 and applicable labor times found in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. If symptoms continue, refer to Workshop Manual, Section 418-00A Electrical Distribution > Controller Area Network (CAN) Module Communications Network > Diagnostic and Testing. |
