It turned fairly cold in NC 1 week ago with lows in the low 20s. A couple of mornings my car has not heated up (not plugged in) and my watch reports the vehicle is in deep sleep modes. I know from the Ford site that there are three things that will put it into deep sleep: not driving for 14 days, voltage issues, and cold/hot weather. My truck was in last week because of odd electrical issues but they just did CSPs and reset the system and it's been fine since then.

My question is this: how cold does it need to be to go into deep sleep mode? Also, when it is cold, if I plug it in at night will it heat up normally in the morning?

deep sleep modes
I live in the cold and have cold soaked my truck for days, never heard of deep sleep mode and its not in the owners manual.

Where did you hear about this?

Edit: I see it's a fordpass connectivity thing and isn't specific to the lightning. It's 12v battery most likely reporting a lower voltage.

Interesting as they just checked the 12V and said it was OK.
There have been a few areas of concern with the 12v battery.
Poor connections at the battery AND in the wiring beyond the battery
12v battery monitor system, the sensors attached to the battery had to be replaced, it was a CSP from ford.
Just generally weak batteries. Standing voltage is not a good way to determine actual battery capacity.

When they tested you battery, could have been step 1 of the service visit.

Then you had a bunch of diagnostic and software updates, if they required 12v power booster support and they failed to connect one, then the 12v might have been stressed and low on V's & AH's, take it for a nice long drive, or idle the truck parked in your yard/garage for several hours with the HVAC blower set on 5+, hopefully that replenishes the 12v battery and your trucks hibernation events should diminish.

It's real. If the voltage of the 12v battery falls too low (on my 2023 ER it is between 40-50% SOC) the truck shuts down non-essential modules including the modem, killing FordPass remote start and any other functions that require WiFi or Cellular connectivity. The good news is that it charges the 12v battery from the HVB when it happens.

LOL, yes, the last paragraph of my post describes this feature as fordpass specific and not related to any one vehicle. I assure you it's 12v related as I've coldsoaked before at - 25degC and have never seen this behaviour, maybe prolonged periods below - 30? Regardless, it does not happen at 1degF per the OP.

From ford:
Deep Sleep mode is designed to conserve battery power on your vehicle. This setting is activated when your vehicle falls under the following conditions:

Vehicle inactivity for 14 consecutive days

The battery voltage drops below 9.5 volts

Extremely cold/hot weather conditions

How to Turn Off Deep Sleep Mode
To turn off Deep Sleep Mode, turn on your vehicle manually using the push-button start or your key. It may take 20-30 seconds for your modem to reconnect with the FordPass®* App.

It happens well before 9.5 volts. In my last event, it occurred at around 12.2 v and a SOC of 43% as measured through an independent monitor. On an AGM battery, 9.5volts is pretty much dead
