Currently, leaf, ioniq, mini se. It's probably not actually going to pass with these stipulations. I think the 12,500 with 80k MSRP limit may happen but honestly I don't see them managing to change it at all and the current incentive to stay in place for at least a few more years.

Is the thought that lowering the cap would force automakers to produce cheaper EVs? This seems so illogical. The only thing this seems to accomplish is punishing the “wealthy” while only harming the initiative to entice people to purchase EVs. Automakers will produce cheaper EVs as soon as they can reasonably do so. It’s in their best, profit-driven interest.

Very confused by Sen. Deb Fischer’s priorities

Yeah I don't think this is going anywhere. I doubt Ford is going to just go with the flow when the Mach -E is only going to get more costly....... has she not looked at the current inflation?

Its an attention grabber, nothing more. Non binding vote-o-rama.....

Sen Deb gets to claim "she's working for low income" American's while doing nothing at all. She knows damn well very few EVs qualify. So, she gets credit for an incentive no one is going to be able to use. In her mind that's a win. Make no mistake, she's not a supporter of EVs..not at all.

I wish media would stop claiming that the lightning will be sold for under 40k, since consumers are not able to directly buy the PRO trim right?

Ford F-150 Lightning Senate votes to place a $40,000 price cap on EV tax credit. 1628877344904

Ford has previously claimed the Pro will be available to individuals, though not in extended range versions; which will be fleet only.

Just like the hamstrung XL and XLT trims, Ford is hell bent to get everyone to 'step up' to the higher trims.

As much as they like being able to quote low 'starting at $$$' prices, they'll do anything they can to make that base price truck as unappealing as possible to anyone interested. I am surprised that the Pro isn't only sold in the ISIS Dildo Flag color scheme to scare off people that actually want to spend a reasonable amount of money on a truck.

This entire rush to EVs will only hurt the consumer. The gov't forcing auto makers to make 1/2 their vehicles by 2025 electric when the demand or technology isn't there will only hurt the consumer. It will cause more expensive EVs, less reliability, and used gas powered vehicles prices to go through the roof.

I am not against EVs I am number 113,000 something on my order for the lightning, I just know there are serious economic and technology hurdles the auto industry needs to get over before EVs are mainstream.

By the time I get an EV the current Tax credit through Ford will be gone anyways.

Who is forcing the automakers to be 1/2 electric? (Not the US gov't). Thats nowhere close to the truth. The gov't is suggesting a goal of 40-50% by 2030...I think the market will support that way before any government intervention.

All the rush so far is being done by demand...if Tesla, MME, Lightning, CT. etc are any sign there is a market developing

For the next couple years, at least, the limit will be supply, not demand or technology.

Mach E, Tesla, Lightning, etc., will all sell about as many as they can build.

There's always some idiot senator throwing some idiotic idea against the wall to see if it'll stick. This is one of those.
