There is a huge list of advantages from a Solid State Battery (SSB) pack over the older Lithium packs. I reserved a Lighting but a lot of information I have been studying and my findings suggesting the SSBs may not be as far off as many have thought.
Next year should yield some good updates...
As of 26 May, 70,000 Lightening trucks have been reserved. I don't think 100,000 have been added to the list since then. The first 2 days had the highest reservations made which was 44,000.
Toyota has a R&D working model that will be reviled this summer. They seem to have developed a fix for the dendrite issue. Nano technology coating to prevent the dendrites, something like a 300,000 mile battery life. Ford is heavy in R&D and many others with the SSB tech.
The problem may be the...
Not sure how that will play on these since they are reserved by individuals direct to Ford. I would bet there will be a different set of guidelines here but do see region being included.
Saw where as of 26 May, 70,000 Lightening trucks have been reserved. 44,500 of them happened within 2 days of the announcement. Mine was reserved on the 27th so I'm way up there.
I think you are wise! Great deal to get out of the diesel.
My PowerBoost has been flawless and love the truck but I did reserve a Lightening.
I've owned several hybrids all the way back at least 15 years. An EV of course is different and has some limitations that I feel will really start...
Looks like Toyota is to have a working model for testing and display here sometime this year. I will hold off my EV purchase for the SSB EV, way too many advantages not to. Hope it is developed and put out in the 24 to 25 model year.
A solar farm or wind mill, all are good but they dont' produce all the time and no real way to store the energy. As you mentioned, older systems are being decommissioned, like nuclear and coal.
Our grid in most high populated area's of the country deal with shortages now. When you start adding...
My fear is the power grid our country currently has. As more and more EVs start to hit the road, the strain on the power grid is going to be huge. Heck, many parts of the country can not handle summer time now.
Made my reservations today. 10931704
I am blown away at how many have already. I haven't had my 2021 PowerBoost but a few months, will see what their schedule will be like but I think it will take longer than they are currently stating.
Sad to see no King Ranch version.
I reserved a 2022 Lightning, figure what the heck, just $100 that you can get back if it don't work out.
Saw where the current leadership has promised a stark increase in funding for charging stations in the very near future.
I am very interested in the EV movement but will be more interested...
Currently has Lithium.
Solid state last longer, cost less, charge faster, recyclable, much smaller so weigh a lot less, life span of the battery pack is much longer than lithium now with new advancements in nano tech and because they are much lighter you can have larger batteries packs for much...
