Waiting for TFL and InsideEVs to put out their usual tests. But yeah, even as a weekend warrior that 4' bed is a non-starter. I'm also not a fan of manufacturers not supporting Carplay/Auto.
And this may seem silly but the Lightning's frunk design should be the golden standard. I could even...
They do, but I've run heavily used beaters my whole life and can finally afford a new vehicle and I really want an EV. I'm still WFH and we have her car, so I'm not too terribly pressed, but it's extremely inconvenient in suburbia America.
I'm in the same boat as you are. I assumed I'd order in October and take delivery in the spring. I can't hold off until 2023 so barring Ford saying they'll be knocking out 50k vehicles in the first model year I think I may be going Mach-E. Plus the SO loved the test drive so she can have that...
I've watched a few of this guy's videos (or at least the first minute or so) and they're all just regurgitating the very little information and rumors we've seen a million times.
This title, however, was extra clickbaity.
You don't have to reserve at your own dealership, but on top of that you're allowed to move your reservation anywhere.
So what likely happened is you happen to have a good known dealership and people either initially reserved there, or transferred their reservation there.
Of course it's...
It's exactly why they're delaying it which makes it all the more frustrating. Just price it out and let the consumer eat whatever extra comes from the bill.
Even 150 miles daily is pushing it, especially if you live in an area with a cold winter.
Only way it works is if you have level 2/3 charging at your destination.
Definitely will still be inconvenient. They need to set it up like gas station pumps. Hell, even one of Ford's stock PR videos shows an EV pulling up to a gas station-like charger. I'm not sure why no one's working on that right now.
It's starting to feel like Tesla with all of these delays, although I'm still certain that I'll be driving a Lightning before anyone gets a CT, even if I wait until 2025.
Orders open in December, you heard it here first.
But seriously, this is a very good sign that they're still on track for the part that matters: build and delivery, not order banks opening.
The average age of vehicles in America is 12 years. So yes, it is worse at the start but barring a total collision in the first 4 years that vehicle will still be cleaner in the long-run. It's a start.
