Being at the whim of a useless middleman will probably drive some of these reservations elsewhere.
If Chevy was smart, they'd be paying very close attention to how Ford is handling this and learning from it.
Yeah, that's my mantra now. I was just more peeved that they not-so-subtly avoided my question about my place in line. I think they know I'm so far down the line and don't want me to chicken out of my spot before they can grab a +1 for the lot.
I emailed my internet sales person about my place in line but all I got back was some line about how he thinks it's still December order banks.
Useless.
This is definitely something to keep in mind. It appears Ford vastly underestimated the amount of demand, so before that they weren't planning on making a ton of these vehicles. It just doesn't make sense to needlessly redesign something that would've only had less than 100k units made.
If I know for a fact that I can hold off for 3-4 years without penalty, I'm holding my place in line. Partner likes the Mach-E so I'd probably do that on Ford Options then have her take over when I get the Lightning.
If they're doing it in waves, my guess is only reservation holders will be able to order in the first one, then they might open it up for the following waves.
1) Most states increased registration fees to help cover the road tax.
2) They didn't need to push ICE vehicles aggressively to help combat a climate crisis.
I think as more vehicles are released on platforms built from scratch for EVs instead of being conversions of ICE frames, we'll start seeing more frunks. It just makes too much sense.
Is that just for fleet orders, or for everyone in general?
If it's for everyone I'm getting real tired of waiting, so some of y'all might move up a spot soon. Production starting in June means I'd probably have an early 2023 delivery at the earliest.
