Its disappointing they aren't going to upgrade 2022 Lightnings to the new operating system. I would have thought that is something they would have planned in order to keep all the Lightnings in sync for OTA updates.
The big advantage Tesla still has is they expand their charging network as demand for their cars increases. The same can't be said about every other manufacturer. Once Ford, GM, VW, Hyundai and KIA start selling hundreds of thousands of EVs every year, the lines at EA chargers are going to be...
Nice. I got my Chargepoint Flex delivered today. Hopefully I can have an electrician install it in the next couple weeks. I'm planning on hardwiring mine to get 48 amps.
Electric vehicle chargers were included in the infrastructure bill that passed. But as Texas has shown, they aren't going with the best option. Tesla offered to build universal superchargers, which cost 1/5 of what Texas picked. So unless you live in an EV friendly state, expect the worse option...
I've seen numerous interviews where they've said that accessories for the ice F150 bed will fit in the Lightning bed.
That being said, I'd recommend waiting to buy anything until you have the keys. Who knows if your dealer will throw on a last minute adm and you are stuck with a tonneau cover...
My dealer was the opposite. They called me a week before I was able to order and told me I'd be in the next wave, and to call them as soon as I place my order. Took them about an hour to accept my order once it was complete.
I'm guessing Ford is going to prioritize the Lightning for everything, and try to ship them out as fast as they can. Wouldn't be surprised if we see 2 weeks from build complete to delivery to dealership.
We don't know for certain Rivian has better charging tech. Ford's could be the same, 500A/450v, but they are choosing to limit the max amps to 345 A or lowering the max voltage because they are afraid of battery degradation and having to replace batteries under warranty. At the end of the day...
Glad to see they are using a more aggressive charge rate than the Mach E. 134 kW is definitely pretty good. With the latest update, Rivian tops out at 225 kW now, so their curve at 65% should be better now.
