2022 Ford F150 Lightning XLT | 2018 Tesla Model 3
Following-up on my delivery yesterday to provide some insight. For what it’s worth, I was checking the Ford reservation page and tracker pages repeatedly, basically refreshing every 10-15 minutes and it never updated beyond “Shipped,” so that’s not a true indicator. It still shows this status and no email from Ford yet with any kind of status on my truck.

Also, no dealer markup, which was great. But the finance guy told me that as long as the person that ordered it picks it up, there’s no markup. But if that person bails, then there’s a huge markup. For reference, I found a Lariat with a Standard Range battery at another local dealership that someone had cancelled on that I found out has a $30k markup. :/

Regardless of how frustrating this all is, hang in there!

Also, we were at dinner and I received my first email update from Ford!

“To ensure your complete satisfaction, we will require additional time before your 2022 F-150 Lightning LARIAT is delivered to Granger Motors, Inc.. Your vehicle’s previous estimated delivery range of July 18, 2022, and July 24, 2022, has been updated to between August 12, 2022, and August 18, 2022.”

Pretty sure this is Ford-speak for “during the month your truck sat in the parking lot a raccoon made its way inside and, yeah, it’s gonna need a new interior.”

My ETA is still showing. BTW, Tim B {Fordvideoguy] mentioned in last nights talk, that Ford is planning to update the online order experience starting with closing on 8/4 and beyond, the customer will be able to finalize the order online, he did not elaborate on how trade-in's or third party bank financing would work though. I anticipate having to go into my dealers for those aspects of my deal.

I also got the same email last night (a day after the backdoor tracker showed the same date changes).

I laughed at the "To ensure your complete satisfaction..." part of the email. Why couldn't they give us the facts like:
"We really didn't care about meeting our original delivery promise to you so your truck delivery estimate is being updated for the third time. Maybe you'll get it with this delivery window or maybe not."
Or "To ensure your complete satisfaction we have taken extra time to remove the raccoon poop from the interior of your truck. Hopefully we get it shipped before the raccoon comes back."

Or, give us the actual scheduling plan for the vehicle. Sure it might change but it would be nice to know what the plan is.

Just to add to this, my dealer was fantastic. Was in and out in about 10 mins. The finance guy was a bit peeved that we used outside financing without giving him a chance to beat or match but once I said 1.99% for 72%, he was fine with it. There was no mention of markup or ADM at anytime.

Having said that, this is the same dealer that locked up the mannequin Pro after taking a deposit on it haha.
That was my one issue was that the process took about three hours in total. But after waiting 15 months to get it, that was a small price to pay. :)

But the entire process was smooth, so no complaints. I love my truck!

That was my one issue was that the process took about three hours in total. But after waiting 15 months to get it, that was a small price to pay. :)

But the entire process was smooth, so no complaints. I love my truck!
Did you do outside financing or Fords?

My delivery ETA is still TBD. Talked to Ford support this morning and they claim it is all related to shipping and they are waiting to hear back from a carrier. I still cannot understand how they can ramp up to 150K units per year while they are struggling delivering only 5k units or so produced so far. It is taking them over 2 months to deliver mine. Very disappointed with the whole process. It shouldn't be this hard. Already missed 2 deadlines for locked down interest rates. Had planed trips that I had to cancel. Most likely wont see it before September from the looks of it. My first Ford is most likely going to be my last. Thanks Ford.

This is huge and should be a thread. This is a great workaround to all/most of the dealer games! If you finalize the order, they can't add ADM later. If only you could also indicate you want no dealer add ons...

Did you do outside financing or Fords?
I used Ford's. I planned on looking into outside financing ahead of going in but got busy with work. And they were pretty flexible in working with me when I got there, so I just went along with their financing.

Ugh, don’t go peruse other build week threads… 7/25 weekers are receiving shipped status. Can’t imagine how frustrated the April and May stragglers must be.
