Has anyone tried mounting 2018-2020 F-250 Superduty Mirrors or 2018-2020 F-150 "Tow Mirrors"?

I've been studying them and everything from the various connectors (depending on ammenities) and the bracketry look identical, even the turn signals look similar.

My mirrors are the fully manual mirrors without turn signals or puddle lights, I believe they may be heated and they have the external temperature sensor mounted as well, I would like to upgrade to tow mirrors. The OEM tow mirrors from my research seem to cost about $1,000,000 (One Million Dollars) per side, but there are a handful of aftermarket solutions.

So if you happen to have some spare time and a super duty or 2018-2020 w/tow mirrors sitting around in addition to your 21 could you take a look?

If not I'm prepared to be the guinea pig, I'll look for a cheap takeoff mirror or a bored neighbor.

So today I removed my passenger side mirror so we can analyze the mounting pattern, connector, and general shape to compare it to other mirrors:

This specific mirror is from an XL. So it has no power folding, no turn signals, no puddle light, no BLIS, etc... Only heat (and ext temperature sensor). But I imagine other mirrors use the same connector but simply utilize more of the 22 pins.

Here's the mounting location from the inside of the previous gen (13) F-150 compared to the interior mounting location of gen 14:

Worth noting at this point that previous generation F150/250's came in both 8 pin and 22 pin configuration --- not sure if this has carried over --- although I was surprised to see the 22 pin on mine vs the 8 pin with what little features it has.

I'm interested to see if a set or power folding mirrors work with the existing 22 pin connectors you have. I have a XLT with BLIS, puddle lights and turn signal but am in the same boat (garage width wise). I really want to add tow mirrors but unsure if they are just plug an play.

This weekend I added this to my garage:

Which i then promptly lifted the steps and reduced the snowplow on:

It's a 2021 STX, so the mirror setup is exactly what I need to test the swap.

As soon as the weather clears up I will test fit these mirrors to my 2021 F150 and report back if they mount up.

Note: I do not expect these to function exactly because they are power adjustable and mine aren't, but if you have the power adjustable switch I don't see any reason why they would not work. (At some point you will be able to use a combination of door controller modules/forscan/switch swapping to setup any mirror you want).

I'd certainly be interested in reading your report and seeing what you find out. Thanks in advance!

Ok guys today I removed the tow mirrors from my superduty (2021) and confirmed that they DO indeed fit the F150 and as long as you get the 22 pin connector on the Superduty mirror side (2020-2021 for sure, but possibly as far back as 2017ish) I believe you will be in business.

The hard part now: You want to find superduty mirrors that have the same specs as your mirrors.

XL/STX guys, we may be out of luck because I'm pretty sure there are no fully manual superduty mirrors, they will be at least manual fold, manual extend, but with power adjustable mirrors.

XLT/Lariat folks, if you have power adjust but not power folding, then XL and possibly XLT superduty mirrors should work as long as they are NOT powerscope.

Now this is making one huge assumption. I am assuming the pin out on the mirrors is the same between the models/years, and it very well may be different. More research/contribution needed here (by someone else).

Now having said all of this, as soon as forscan can write to the 2021 F150 and we have the confirmation on the pinout patterns, I believe we may be able to add any mirrors we wish assuming you want to invest the time and money in getting the proper wiring harnesses/electronic components. But honestly if you're going that route you may as well just invest in the 2021 f150 powerscope mirrors.

But if your mirrors are feature equivalent with the superduty mirrors you're after, we may be in the clear provided again that the pin-out is unchanged.

One more caveat, the mounting surface of the bottom of the mirror will need some very minor trimming/sanding to protect your window seal. The 2021 F150 seal sticks up about 1/16" higher than the F250. I did not push the mirror entirely into place on mine nor trim it since I needed both mirrors to go back to their prospective trucks.

For my next step I believe I may invest in some aftermarket/used superduty mirrors and either mod them to be feature mirrors of my mirrors, or I may add power adjust to my truck with forscan once it's possible and then put on a set of XL manual folding, manual extend, power adjustable mirrors like the ones on my STX F250.

Feel free to make some corrections as I am making a lot of assumptions here based on the evidence so far.

M4X,
The F150 tow mirrors are interchangeable from 2015-2020. As you stated the 2018-2020 F250 mirrors are the same. You have now confirmed 2021 will fit as well. I recently installed Ford tow mirrors on my 2015 F150. My first set were 1A Auto mirrors that were great but wobbled horribly at 45mph and above. I sent those back. I now have Ford tow mirrors. My truck is 8 pin and added the 22 pin adapter harnesses to plug into the mirrors. Added puddle lights, turn signals and running lights. The truck had power heated mirrors which are retained with the Ford mirrors. These mirrors do have spot lights in them, but do not have power fold.

I have installed the tow mirrors. They work great when towing my travel trailer.
