Success! Can't even believe I got it to work, but it does!!

I was able to get a pair of Lariat Lightning seats to work on my '22 Pro. Big thank you to @lSherlockl for doing all the leg work, as well as @kdkool for his write up.

I took my time and completed this over the course of three weekends. Below was my journey...

The excel spreadsheet is your bible, study it, know it, trust it, it works. Took me a while to figure out what a lot of it meant but forums and youtube are undefeated ;)

Rear seat swap/install was fairly straight forward. I didn't add heated seats to the rear, so this was probably the easiest part of the project. Basically just remove the bolts, unplug a couple wires and do the reverse on the new seats. The trickiest thing was the latch on the driver side rear seat, that was a pain to get to as the lever pull had fallen.

Next, I worked on the passenger seat, the seat swap itself was again straight forward, undo the 4 bolts and wire harness and the seat pops out. While the seat was out I pinned all the wires according to the spreadsheet in the first post, wrapped the wires in some loom tape and set it aside while I installed the new seat. Once connected back to the truck side harness the seats/lumbar function as they should.

I drove with the truck like this for a week or two... no issues.

Finally, on to main event, installing the driver seat and running wires. Again, removing the seat was easy, 4 bolts and a wire harness. I also removed the center console completely so I could run the wires. I believe there is a write on how to remove the center console somewhere but basically remove the two trim panels from each side of the console, undo the 6 bolts (careful they can and will break with too much torque), undo the two (maybe three) wire connectors and it will lift right out. I ran my custom wire harness from the passenger seat under the floor lining to the driver side then pinned all the wires into the truck side seat harness, again according to the spreadsheet. I was then able to reinstall the center console. From there I ran the twisted pair to C212 and a single hot wire to C265 (F**k C265 and its location, it absolutely sucked getting it out), along the passenger side of the console then into the area behind the glovebox. Tapped and pined the wires accordingly then buttoned everything back up.

Last but certainly not least, Forscan! I followed @kdkool post. Pulled a Lariat As Built and loaded that file into the HVAC unit. Then made the 3 additional changes also mentioned:

Sat in my driveway as the cold air on my tush whispered, atta boy!

AWESOME welcome to the "PRO-LETARIAT" life (what i have taken to calling well the modified pro trim with many of the lariat features) pro to lariat--PROLETARIAT whatever ill see myself out

in any case great work, its definitely satisfying and oddly not as hard as it seems. great appreciation to for scan and or how dang modular modern manufacturing is.

did some more work tonight and i have HSW working WWOOHOO

1694652941551.jpeg

also what on screen controls look like with below settings changes how the main menu navigation works too no longer the bar on the bottom

So bear in mind this is still with the the pictured ICE HVAC unit (which cannot actually do heating or cooling) But i configured HVAC with stock PRO config via forscan, still need to ultimately try swapping back to stock hvac unit (or force re-flashing it) but keeping the ICE unit in there till i finish HC seat install.

then in APIM

First sanity check, you do have heated wheel and SCCM that supports heated wheel right? 9and the necessary wiring of course?

then just going to repost some of my notes, key things is it touches 3 modules APIM (this is to reveal the buttom), IPC ( instrument panel cluster not positive why guessing it deals with the comms to the SCCM), and the the SCCM (which is the steering wheel control module)

also for other values reference livinitups forscan spreadhseet of doom its late and I'm too lazy to look up and verify what values you might need (assuming a XLT heated seats no wheel by default?):

When I added the heated wheel to my 2018, I also had to change the clockspring and add wires for it. Double check you did all the hardware changes for this model generation

also I saw this in one of your post

this is the only line I didn't change because I have a 5 in there not a 4 do you happen to have a spreadsheet for the meaning of these numbers like the rest ???

what number should I put in there and is it possible this is why my steering wheel is grayed out ???

thanks

Me personally I would try changing it and if that did not work, you could change it back to the 5. If you document the changes, you made it should not be a big deal.

you know that may be exactly it. I think i ended up with using a lariat HVAC code block on my pro (as i needed to get the cooled seats working) the nail in the coffin would be to check or get a XLT with HSW vin and pull the as builts for that and see what is in there. I can try and check mine in the next few days but I'm like 90% sure that this is what you are missing, as i think those were always greyed out for me (for the seat controls till i told the HVAC i had the specific seats) I will also at the time I had to get a specific version of forscan to get to program the lightning HVAC it may be in public release now.

that or the IPC (that one threw me for a loop for awhile too).

and duh my mind was like how did you have heated seats in a pro and forgot they added them in the 23/24

Hello hello, first of all I would like to start by thanking Sherlock and Jdmackes for answering my dumb questions. I have completed many steps, I feel I'm very close but not completely achieved anything at the moment:) let me summarize what I did so maybe I can help someone with a similar problem.

Yesterday I spent 8-9 hours in the truck. I don't have a heated garage so it was very fun in 25F :)
Ford F-150 Lightning 2022 Lightning Pro Seat Swap/Upgrade to Heated/Cooled 1735830958208-os

I have purchased;
- Heated steering wheel (couldn't find the PN but I guess everyone OK with this one)
- Steering column switch (ML3Z3F791BB)
- harness from Jscaro
- control panel for physical button for the wheel (ML3Z19980K)

I installed the ML3Z3F791BB and ML3Z19980K. I managed to install the harness as well, I used the pin slot 15. (not my photo, I got it from this, it helped a lot)
Ford F-150 Lightning 2022 Lightning Pro Seat Swap/Upgrade to Heated/Cooled 1735831354203-sn

Then I started Forscan. I realized I lost my heating (both ventilation and the seats), I guessed it was because of the ML3Z19980K and uninstalled that, installed the stock. I decided to go one by one to achieve a heated steering wheel, so I decided to decrease the number of variables.

When I installed the stock, I didn't have my heating, again. Then I thought something should be wrong in the forscan side. I got back to my backups, still no heat. I realized (of course, Murphy's Law) I didn't get any backup for HVAC, I thought that might be my case. But I didn't have any backups:) Then I found this website with some search in the forums and got my settings with my VIN. Then I checked one by one for HVAC module and corrected what I have. And I got my heating back. I need to be honest, It was a stressful 45mins for me :) (Please make sure you backup the modules you will play with!)

Then I started changing them again, according to what Sherlock told above.

And voila, I got the button and it's working.
Ford F-150 Lightning 2022 Lightning Pro Seat Swap/Upgrade to Heated/Cooled 1735833507161-jz

Is it done? no:) because there is no heat in the wheel. I must be doing something wrong.

I was thinking maybe it was because of the grounding point of the harness. But I exactly did the same thing in the video I mentioned above, so that shouldn't be the case.

Ford F-150 Lightning 2022 Lightning Pro Seat Swap/Upgrade to Heated/Cooled 1735832911287-fs

But it had been 9 hours and my hands were crying in the cold so I called the day. What I'm planning to do is; I have never used a multimeter before:) I ordered one, I'll be checking the slot 15 pin, ground area to make sure I have power.

Sometimes I'm having SCCM B112B:49-2a. It goes when I reset the DTC's, then sometimes it pops up again. Can that be related?

Or maybe I'm missing something else?

EDIT - SOLVED!!!
I decided to check the connections one by one to see if I couldn't connect them well etc, and started with the famous pin in the slot #15. I realized that I put it in the wrong slot 🤦‍♂️ Another lesson: don't work for 9 hours in 25F, you make mistakes that you don't realize :) I put it in the correct location, and now it works!!! Finally!
