Called my dealer this AM. I have a build date of 8/14/2023 for an XLT with regular battery, since there were no options to get under 80k with an extended when I ordered in March. Dealer says he has a VIN and therefor cannot change the order.

But the guy also said they would apply my $500 to a later arrival if I just want to order what I want and let them sell the first vehicle to someone else. So I ordered a Lariat with extended battery. Now at 78k and change delivered.

Ford website still saying "deliveries starting in October"... My bet is that this price drop will result in enough orders that I will be looking at January or later, but who knows. I think it was worth it to get the extended battery and the extra for the Lariat seemed acceptable as well.

Already had the EVSE mounted at my parents farm -- guess it will have to wait a little longer.

GM is so vain, they think the price cut is about them, not the Cybertruck getting ready to launch:

When they want to sell me a PRO for $40k again, I may buy; but also see what the competition has at that point available.

Early adopters for sure will get hurt in the coming decade to any new EV models. But then again cars are not appreciating assets.

Meh. I have already driven mine nearly 10k miles in 3 months. It doesn't bother me as I have been having fun with my truck. I think that it's great that the price reduction makes the truck more accessible. Ford is finally achieving the economies of production scale and wants to be the dominant EV pickup player as they have been the dominant ICE player.

GM priced the Silverado into the stratosphere and setting aside the Bolt, they still can't seem to produce EVs at scale.

If anything, it's a shot over the bow at Tesla that's going to be launching the Cybertruck at a premium price point. Tesla's range numbers are consistently BS. Their 350 is everybody else's 280. It's going to be interesting.

I emailed my dealer yesterday as soon as I found out about the price change and they got right back to me and told me that since my truck (XLT SR) has not been built yet that I would get the new lower pricing. They even followed up with a text this morning to look out for an email from Ford which would also confirm that I would get the lower pricing.

New goal: Pre-owned Lightning XLT SR 312A for under $50k. New ones sell for $55k after the tax rebate so prices should stabilize eventually.

I am more curious about the future of knee-jerk pricing adjustments. Ford has been messaging that the model-E is moving towards a no-negotiating model/Set-price. I had adjusted my mindset over the last 2 years that I wouldn't have to worry about hunting for the best deals because the prices would be relatively "set". Now, I'm wondering when is the next big price shift and what direction will it be in. Do I have to hurry and buy before it shoots up 6k$? Should I wait to see if it falls more? When LFP does arrive will it drop again or is it somehow priced in? This volatility just brings back all the anxiety of the car purchasing process. I wanted to wait for the LFP because I expected a price drop then, but now I feel like that may be a risk to wait that long.

Yea, my salesman said that Ford also often refunds some money to people who just purchased in the last few weeks. But he was unsure about timeframe. And he was sure that my XLT SR with build date of 8/14 will be at lower pricing.

My first post:) I decided to jump in after my commute with my wife this morning in our 27k mile 2021 Mach-E. I ordered a XLT Antimatter Blue, Extended Range, no options. It's a bit more then I want to pay, but given the prices on ICE trucks I decided it was worth it. We really like the Mach-E, just have had terrible experience with the dealership, so I'm going with a different dealership about 24 miles away this time.

Must be nice to get direct, unambiguous, unequivocal communication from your dealer. This is the first I’ve heard about direct confirmation from Ford. I am curious, what does whether the truck was built or not have to do with anything?

You guys are lifesavers! I was sweating having the shorter range battery but now I can get the extended range battery and paying even less! And thank you to those who talked about their dealerships. I called mine and he's gonna move my $500 down payment over as well (he couldn't do anything about updating so told me to order again if I didn't mind waiting). I was already an 8/28 build date so I was gonna probably one of the last "reservation" guys. Y'all rock!

2015 Ford and 2023 Ford Lightning pending delivery
Alright, need to vent: my truck was on a train for 3 weeks starting mid December of 22 which screwed me for the last tax credit. I told myself ok... that's what happens and sometimes such is life. Took deliver 12 January and 6 months later the truck gets reduced AND now qualifies for the tax credit, I'm straight up pissed.

I get that things happen, but this is now the second time I've effectively lost the federal tax credit because of Ford.
Same for me. Terrible! I just placed an order for a 2024 Maverick and straight up has me questioning my loyalty to Ford.
