2024 Flash Charging Port Replacement

I had an issue while trying to DC fast charge. Red rings + vehicle charging fault. Tried several times, same issue, made a service appointment and they came back saying the charging port needs replaced. This was on 1.27.2025, the charging port is still on back order as of 2.25.2025, in the meantime, level 2 charging has not been affected.

The actuator caused problems earlier on. Not sure what the problem is with yours.

They weren’t specific with what the issue is, just that the port needs replaced.

Update: the part was supposed to show up on 2.28.2025. It still hasn’t shipped.
Still no DCFC. I have now owned the truck longer without the ability to use DCFC than I have with the ability to use DCFC.

Update 3.20.2025

Dealer has received the charging port assembly. Scheduled for service 3.31.2025. They believe it will take at least one full day to complete. I am cautiously optimistic.

Did you recently DCFC while the fault occurred? Early on people tried pulling the plug while the pin was still latched, damaging it and causing the red ring on subsequent charges. Best practice is to end the DCFC charge session, press the unlock button next to the port and wait to hear the pin disengage or just count to 5.

I had only used the DCFC a handful of times before it had the issue. Appreciate the advice!

Update 4.2.2025
Truck went into the shop on Monday 3.31 just got it back today!

Here’s what the service report says:

Installed RL3Z 14A303 A : INLET

Verified customer concern. Plugged vehicle into DC fast charger. Charge cord would not unplug charger from vehicle when pressing release button. Used emergency release to remove charge cord. Checked DCs. Found P0D94:00. Followed PPT K in WSM K1: YES, 414-03B. K1: YES, K2: NO, K3: NO, K4: YES, K5 : YES.

Followed WSM 414-03B to remove and replace the charge port. De-energized HV system. Removed frunk storage area. Recovered A/C.

I Removed battery and battery tray. Removed and replaced charge port. Installed battery tray and battery.

Recharged A/C. Installed frunk area. Re-energized HV system. Cleared DTCs. Charged vehicle with DC fast charger. Concern no longer present. Charger was able to be removed after pressing stop charge button.
