On the Mach-E forum, I asked vendors about a “keep the adapter cool” solution, like a mini umbrella. No takers. I started searching, and as a photographer hobbyist, I bought an adjustable hot-shoe flash reflector. See here:

It serves its purpose of keeping the adapter in the shade (see photo).

I don’t know how well the materials will hold up, but maybe it will give accessory vendors an idea.

Great idea!
I know some people have created Rain shields and similar items with a 3-D printer shouldn’t take much to come up with something to hold the reflector. I was on a trip last weekend and had to use my adapter at one supercharger and when I finished and went to unplug it was insanely hot. It was also a little over 100° outside we have a cold front come through so hopefully that’s it until next summer!

I just throw a light colored small towel over it and that does the trick to keep the heat off.

What is the problem that this solution solves?

Slowed charging due to overheating handle/adapter. Adapter too hot to the touch when removing. Plenty of threads on this. It’s also highlighted as a problem over at Mach-E Vlog.

a simple hand towel works perfectly, especially if it's moist...

it will be just the thing, too, when snow and ice become a 'problem'...
