Anyone tried this rack?
ADARAC™ Truck Bed Rack (outlet)

It looks to be quite a good price on it. Now 400 bucks. Says it was 800? Not sure how true that is but looks like a good deal. A bit ugly to me though, but oh well.

Anyone know if it will work with a tonneau cover?

I thought, huh aren't they all ugly, but that one is extra ...
They show a cover in the picture so I guess it works with that one

looks like something I could make myself for a lot less money with some plastic coated angle iron, bolts, nuts, washers, and some square metal tubing.

Also looks like the tonneau cover has to be one that doesn't cover the upper parts of the sides of the bed for the picture.

Check out the ADARAC Aluminum Pro Series Truck Rack. It's compatible with most tonneau covers that are mounted to the inside of the truck bed, and you still have full functioning use of the tonneau cover- even hard folding ones. There is an option for matte black or silver to match your setup. These are great for RTT, ladders, lumber, kayaks, canoes- and you can add accessory side bars. ADARAC ADATRAC Overland Accessories

The ADARAC Aluminum Series Truck Rack is also compatible with most inside mounted tonneau covers, but not hard folding since it has that slight slant inward at the top of the uprights. PM me if you have any questions about these products. I can get you a pricing quote, check stock, and ensure a perfect fit.

I am looking to use the Adarack M low profile rack for my Lightning. I have seen the high profile on a couple of trucks in my area. Does not look too bad.

I have also looked into making my own. You can do this cheaply with angle iron and weld it together. A friend did this for his 20+ year old Ranger beater, suits the truck it is on. If you want to do this and have a decent looking rack yourself, you are looking at Unistrut or 8020 extrusions. You need fabrication equipment for anything else and the skills to go along. Not everyone has those. The Unistrut is more utilitarian than 8020 but maybe stronger? 8020 looks great if done carefully. However I have checked pricing, in my area, and for small projects like this the material costs are 60-70% of the cost of the Commercially Available racks. The time to do this yourself, pay for the waste material, and recover from the inevitable mistakes makes it not that compelling.

the other issue with making it yourself is the legal issues that could arise if something fails and damages someone else or something else. Your vehicle insurance may not cover. So for all these reasons I think it is better to buy than build yourself.

Seriously, Why are racks SO expensive? Do you really think these things deserve to be 1/50 the price of the entire truck? Anyone make one themselves?

I was thinking of even making a rack out of wood. All I need is something to get a canoe about a mile.

Seriously, agreed.

They'll be even more expensive soon, when the tariffs on steel and aluminum are passed on to us consumers. And if they come from China even more.

But those poor billionaires desperately need their tax breaks, so they need us tax payers to contribute via tariffs...yachts are expensive after all:

I don't need my rack all the time. So I just move my hard top bed cover to mount my racks when needed. it is a slight pain, but it maintains the beauty of the machine. Racks were purchased for around $250.
