Hey guys,

I know there are a few threads going on subs but I’m curious what everyone is using for their boxes under the seats. I was going to add a stealth box but apparently the existing one doesn’t fit the 21’s from what I was told by crutchfield.
I am okay with losing whatever space under the seats, just no leg room and I’m looking for something in a 10-13” range with 500-600 watts rms. I’ll be installing an lc2i and unless someone has a very good reason for me not to buy JL, I’m likely going to be purchasing the 13w5 or 12w3 depending on what box options/others experiences out there.

I appreciate any and all insights into this!

I can’t give up the space but I want to hear yours when you’re done! Back in the day, we used to fill our cars with crazy subwoofers that would shake your fillings loose. The wildest was my buddy with 6 - 15” subs in the back of a thunderbird.

I have the jl audio stealthbox in my 2021 Lariat. Sounds great and fits perfectly under back seat. I have B&O but not unleashed, so not sure if that makes a difference.

Curious what this setup cost to have installed? What else was required to wire the sub in?

if it isn’t too much trouble, would you be able to lift both seats and take a picture? I can’t see it being much different and this would be great news for me if it fits.

how is the subs response to quick kick drum hits? I listen to some faster metal quite a bit as well as just about every genre, but I’m wondering how a 13” reacts to some of the double kick drum hits in some of my music and if it can keep up without lagging/being off beat.

I'm at the beach right now, but I can provide some more details. Honestly there's not much to show with a picture. It's a carpeted black box (subs face downward so you can't see them) that fits perfectly under the backseat (bolted down) and is flush with the front edge of the seat. Takes the place of the lockable folding storage so hopefully you don't have that option. Amp is hidden and they installed a hidden bass control knob in the storage area between driver right leg and console shifter. Another thing is that I had to cut my tray style floor mats to fit, but that was no big deal.

The sound is great, but can take some fiddling with the audio settings to get the treble, mid, bass mix right. The limited metal I've listened to sounded solid, and honestly two 12" JL audio subs is the best you can do anyway, unless you want to remove the backseat and put full depth subs in lol. They sound good, and I'd definitely recommend them as someone who loves bass. That being said, they are shallow mounted subs obviously, so its never going to be as good as regular depth.

These are the ones I have, although I didn't use crutchfield: https://www.crutchfield.com/S-xmXMj...FXDLlLiCpQFqKv3lQSulOAxNsML7fTdBoC9twQAvD_BwE

It was 1500 bucks for the subs, and then I paid about 950 bucks for the rest of the stuff from the installer (Amp, accessories, installation) including a hidden bass control knob. Took about 4 hours for them to do the work. Can't tell you anything about how to actually install it, that why I paid someone else to do it ?

Did you keep the stock speakers all around or did those get upgraded also?

Yeah, I asked about this and their feedback was that upgrading the stock speakers is much more complicated than the subs. The B&O speakers are solid and could be amped with more wattage to be better, but would be a significant cost bc of the way the B&O is wired...something about digital and tapping in, etc, etc.. If you wanted to do totally new speakers and everything for a significantly better sound I was told it would be very expensive. Again, this is all due to the way the existing B&O is wired from my understanding, but I can't really explain it better than that bc I'm not an expert.

I walked into a local shop recently where they had a 21 Plat in the bay doing a complete audio workover on an Unleashed. I asked the price tag: $4K

My plan once I save up the cash for it is a dream audio setup for my dream truck I now have. Gonna swap out the front door woofer, A pillar tweeter, and front dash mid (and most likely the center channel mids) with FOCAL Flax Evo 3 way component setup. The rear doors will be swapped out with FOCAL Flax Evo 2 way coaxials. Gonna put 2 10" FOCAL Flax shallow mount subs into an MTI Acoustics enclosure under the rear seat. Finally gonna use an AudioControl D6-1200 AMP and DSP to power it all (Maybe a second dedicated for the subs but should be fine for me as I dont need to hear it two blocks away). I will also lay in some major sound treatment on the doors and under the rear seat and subs as it makes a huge difference in the sound. Guessing its going to cost me about $6000. So guess I better get to saving....

I am just finish upgrading my system in my 2021 F150 with the B&O unleashes system. So far i am roughly 15K into the build. The key to upgrading both B&O system is getting a Navtv a2b. The will allow you to bypass the factory amp and you get a clean signal to the amplifier or DSP.

You will like that setup. In my truck I have navtv zen a2b unit toslink into an audio control DM-810 DSP. I have 3 amps in my truck. I have an audio control d6.1200 powering focal K2 power components 2 way for the first 4 channels and the other 2 channel going to some focal utopia 3.5”wm in the dash on each side. The second amp is an audio control ACM 4.300 bridged power k2 power coaxial speaker in the rear. And the final amp is audio control LC1.800 power a JL audio dual 12” stealthbox. All this with my doors and cab sound treated. Right now I am loving the clean, crisp sound.

thanks for the feedback, I’ve elected to go with a similar set up that will be installed at the end of the month! Will report back how it stacks up!

Love it. Sounds like an amazing system. So many people want 3000 watts in 2 15” subs and that’s it. An amazing balanced system like that will put out beautiful, studio quality sound (well as good as you can get in a moving vehicle) with solid bass without having to be heard two blocks away lol. Definitely going to pick up the navtv for the interface. Have heard nothing but good things about it, and the Audio Control DSP’s do such a good job of setting up the sound fields and flattening the oem signal.
