I took a look just a few months ago and though the NHTSA approved adaptive headlights, the specifications they prescribed are not the same as UN-ECE's, especially with regards to the maximum permitted delay and the size of the dimming zones. They referred to USDOT to provide the testing procedures for approval which to date have not been finalized.

In other words: Anyone that ships a US car with more than a fixed low and high beam is in violation and it would be a federal recall. I am guessing on some set of 2024 vehicles they made a mistake with the as-built data and that led to the UI referencing glare-free headlights. I still haven't heard anyone describe the actual matrix dimming feature, but it feels like it'll at least be another year or more before there's going to even be a framework for approving those.

I still haven't heard anyone describe the actual matrix dimming feature
The Matrix Dimming feature utilizes a matrix for the high beam light pattern that can be gradually dimmed or turned off for specific parts of the headlight spot pattern. When a car approaches directly ahead, it can dim only that section of the spot pattern matrix and leave the road in front of you largely lit along with the shoulders on both sides of the road not dimming the left shoulder until the car gets closer. It gently but quickly restores full illumination once the car has passed. It isn't like turning your high beams on and off with the sudden brightness or lack of it. The matrix areas fade in and out and become nearly imperceptable to the driver that intensity has changed since it only changes the matrix areas directly in line with the approaching vehicle.

It also works to dim the matrix areas where cars may be approaching from the sides at an intersection reducing the glare for them as well. Reflextive signs can appear to the Matrix system as lights and the headlight system may dim the area where the sign is most reflective.

In short, think of your high beam light pattern as a matrix of areas that can be dimmed independently depending on the interpretation of active lights approaching the truck. In practice, it works very well to automatically lower the beams in the direction of approaching cars while keeping as much of the area lit as possible. It is quite neat to watch if you are a passenger and can apply your attention to it.

Note that I wasn't the one asking for a description of the feature, but this is a great description

It can be activated via FORSCAN and is honestly one of the best FORSCAN mods available. I find it absolutely absurd the oddly specific things that the NHTSA wants to strictly regulate and the set of things they let everyone have free reign with.

No change for a '22 Lariat with 10.1.1. Still called Glare Free and no changes to them.
