Alternative tail light replacements?

Although I like the styling of our our tail lights, they are a little bulbous and protrude from the sides of the box a little. Not necessarily a design fault, but helped me to clip a garbage can full of Christmas garbage as I was parking in front of my house this evening, shattering my right rear tail light assembly .

anybody know of some good replacements that aren’t $1200?? cuz that’s all I’m seeing

Which after looking at Ford’s website there is some serious price disparity going on here. You can get an entire new box side for only $750 but one single taillight assembly is $1248!!??

Total price closer to $2k by the time the dealer gets the computer to recognizes what is inside that new taillight.

Was one of the tricks to get around this just taking the sensor guts out of the old one and swapping it in the new housing? Or am I thinking of the side mirrors?

I have done a little digging and found some other posts on here that sound like that’s the thing to do. browsing for a replacement on eBay as we speak. And in the meantime, getting some superglue and piecing this thing back together

Super glue and clear tape for now….maybe till someone makes a aftermarket replacement

I was able to replace without reprogramming (find my old post about it). It’s a simple swap, if you can find a unit on eBay.

I actually did find yours where you swapped the radar unit I believe. No replacements on eBay for less than $650 right now and I just can’t bring myself to pay that much for a piece of plastic. At least well still recovering from Christmas spending. Anyone on here sees this and has a spare assembly you got a buyer in me

I was able to replace without reprogramming (find my old post about it). It’s a simple swap, if you can find a unit on eBay.

As long as you don't let any water get inside. The radar module is not waterproof and it's another 500, ask me how I know.

I actually have a spare module (that came with my tail light), so if anyone needs one to reprogram I can sell you mine for cheap.

What a rip off, ugh. Good luck with taking care of the issue. Need more aftermarket support.

Got it taped up pretty well. moisture can get in, but there’s also a big crack at the bottom that’ll allow moisture out so hoping having a drain saves the radar. (I really have gotten spoiled by that cross traffic alert while backing up)
