Because their market is off-roading and vehicles with numerous devices on arms (phones, tablets, cameras, etc) in a mobile command kind of setup. It is not intended to be minimalist for one phone mount.

Yes it does require self tappers into the plastic. I was hesitant about it because of this but after thinking it over I figured 1). I’m very likely not removing the mount once it’s installed and 2). If I did. The rubber tray would cover the holes made so it’s not reallly a big deal. I’ll grab some shots in a bit if you still need themI'm bouncing between this and the offroam vent clamp. @AZT9 Bulletpoint doesn't seem to have the instructions posted on the website. Do you have any pictures or insight into this this 10 different screws drilling into the dash? Is it just lots of screws into the plastic top of the dash under the rubber mat? Is that the 7cm arm?
How is setting the phone down in the center console in any way comparable to a phone mount up on the dash??? That's like jumping into a discussion about chainsaws and telling everyone your lawn mower work just fine. After “upgrading” to lariat I find the slot between the shifter and cup holder works
Perfectly. Don’t cost a penny more and it look clean.
Well if you read you’ll know that I was in this discussion earlier when I shared the phone mount I used for the pro. Now I am sharing my opinion that after upgrading to lariat I don’t see the need for phone mount. How is setting the phone down in the center console in any way comparable to a phone mount up on the dash??? So, by using self tappers, I assume that there are no nuts? How solid is it? Are the self tappers a special type or just plain ol plain ol?"Requires removal of rubber dash mat (not reused) along with the use of double sided tape and 10 self-tapping screws in the plastic dash tray to properly secure the dash mount.
From there, secure the AMPS ball anywhere along the RubiGrid® platform followed by attaching the mounting arm and device holder to create your customized command center.
All necessary hardware is included with the exception of a drill."
All of that to mount my phone? I think I'm good with the magnetic one I bought off Amazon for $20, but I can see the appeal if you work out of your truck all day and need to mount more than one device.
I bought a super short charge cord and use the slot just to hold the phone, not great thou, sinse you don't get a full clear view of the phone screen - works good enough with car-play.After “upgrading” to lariat I find the slot between the shifter and cup holder works
