My carplay bluetooth audio often doesn't play any sound half the time. I try connecting to the usb cable when it doesn't work and it still doesn't play any sound despite the apple music app showing the song playing. The only resolution I've found is to turn the car off and then on to get it working again. Does anyone else have this issue with the audio not working and found an easy solution?

Another fix I tried this morning was to completely shut off bluetooth from the Apple settings and plug into usb. However, I prefer not to fuss with my phone much while driving.

I'm assuming you've already tried a forced reset of the Sync system and a 12V reset as well?

I haven't tried either. I've done a sync reset before and can try it. What is the 12V reset?

Diconnect the negative cable from the 12 v battery about 10 minutes. Make sure you don't have an update in progress and you'll have to close the hood manually after you reconnect the battery. The hood will reset after you close it. Hopefully the buggy software and modules will too.

I just restart my phone and it corrects the sound. The truck sync feeds off the phone. Sometimes it gets confused on what to do. lol.

Not sure if you use one but I have to turn off my VPN for the audio to work.

There was another thread recently about this.
Usually one of these 2 options temporarily corrects the problem:

1. On phone, turn off carplay then back on.
OR
2. Stop and turn off truck, open door, close door and restart truck.

It's been a very common problem for me. The suggestions above usually work. Strangely enough, sometimes the map will work, but I can't get Pandora to work. In my case, I wear hearing aids, which are connected to the phone by Bluetooth and I sometimes suspected that may be the issue.

This happens to me a lot as well. I always just turn off CarPlay on the truck menu and turn it back on, works 95% of the time. Soft reset of sync gets the remaining 5%.

I'm going to try turning off carplay and then back on when this occurs.

You note CarPlay and Bluetooth. I think it is likely mixing words, but CarPlay connects to the truck via a Wifi connection. Does it also use Bluetooth still for music or does it play everything over the Wifi connection?

Truly I don't think this will change nor fix the issue, but if your digging deep to troubleshoot, I'm not sure Bluetooth is the protocol at fault.

CarPlay seems to have different issues for different people. I fought some of the same issues. I couldn't be happier since I gave up on wireless, and it's not just plugging into a cable. The problems didn't go away until I reset CarPlay on the phone and told it to use wired connections only. I plug in every time I get in the truck, but it works every single time now and I got rid of that daily frustration.
