Apologies if this is covered someplace else...
We have a 23 XLT with 26,000 miles. Lately I have noticed a noise when braking to a stop sometimes, especially on one particular steep hill when I am stopping going downhill. I assume it is caused by the much-discussed tradeoff between regen and friction braking. Essentially, I think I'm almost always braking on 100% regen. But on this hill, or if I have to brake quickly and the friction brakes kick on, the rotors have rusted from lack of use, making this sort of groaning sound.
My question is, should I be concerned, and is there anything I should be do differently? I seen other EV drivers say you can occasionally shift into neutral and brake with just the friction brakes. Or stomp on the brakes hard to engage the friction brakes once in a while.
Anyone have a strategy?
