In my quest to get more info about the Supercharger under development in Buffalo, WY I spoke with a very nice individual at the County planning commission who told me there are four DC fast chargers at the new Love's Truck Stop at I-90 and I-25. I can't find any info about these chargers anywhere.

Anybody live in the area that can swing by and take a look? We are headed to our place in Montana on March 1st and having access to DCFC in Buffalo would be a game charger, especially if it's super cold.

FYI I couldn't find any info about the Supercharger coming to Buffalo. At one point there was info it was going to be at the Maverick but that is now called Miller's Sinclair.

From the Love's site:

...As new Love’s, they also have space for EV chargers allocated to be able to quickly partner with local utility companies and install EV charging stations should there be customer demand.

As someone who had to wait hours to access the one DCFC in Sheridan, I would LOVE (sorry) to see chargers in Buffalo or somewhere nearby.

Nothing on the plugshare app. The one charging location in Buffalo, WY says coming soon. A review from November 2024 said there is no sign on construction yet.

Thanks guys. I suspect the chargers at the Love's are not the Superchargers in development. The guy said there were four of them. Can't get any info from Loves. Their customer service is non-existent and the phone number for the store is a cell number that just rings.

I feel your pain. We have charged many times at that Chargepoint charger and thankfully the longest we have waited is 30 minutes. But I know it's just a matter of time. Plus it only puts out 50kw. The SC in Buffalo can't come soon enough. Hopefully the chargers really exist at the Love's.

Seems like Plugshare doesn't get a lot of check-ins lately.

It looks like Love's national plan for charging stations depends heavily on the continued existence of NEVI, the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Program. The goal of this program, touted as " the most transformative investment in EV charging in United States (U.S.) history", is "a nationwide network of 500,000 EV chargers by 2030".
The program covers up to 80% of the costs for companies like Love's to install chargers.

Love's webpage describing its plans features a map showing where its existing EV charging stations are, and where, under their current plan, assuming continuing NEVI funding, EV chargers will be.

It looks like nothing is happening in Wyoming.

At the moment, any new Love's will reserve space for an EV charging area, in case the NEVI funded sites demonstrate enough customer demand for Love's to go whole hog into the EV charging business.

The Trump Administration's hostility to programs like this, i.e. anything that encourages widespread adoption of EVs, ensures they will do whatever they can to repeal this program, stop its funds from being distributed, or pressure states to not apply for its funds.

I've got to get to the bottom of this. The guy I spoke with at the Buffalo Planning Commission said he saw the chargers with his own eyes. Makes no sense that they would install chargers without the electrical in place.

I agree with you that orange and muskrat will try to kill NEVI. I just hope the planned supercharger installs don't get stalled or eliminated. As much as I don't want to give any $ to Tesla we are beyond tired of the EA situation on our route to Montana from KC. Really need that SC in Buffalo and upgrades in Sioux Falls or Mitchell would be great along with Murdo, Rapid City and Spearfish.

Is it possible that this installation is not part of Love’s rollout, but rather some other entity and it just happens to be a coincidence that it is at or near a Love’s location?

No idea but it's strange nothing on Plugshare. That makes me think the guy at the planning dept is mistaken. He said it's outside the city limits where they don't issue permits. We will be traveling through there approximately March 2nd assuming nobody gets there before that.

I am waiting for that star over McComb, Mississippi to come online. The last time I went through, I saw no sign of any construction or change, unless its hidden behind the truck stop area.

I don't think Love's is committed solely to Tesla. Anyway, Tesla's website lists Sheridan Wyoming as the nearest location of a Tesla supercharger to Buffalo.
