I have noticed that my CarPlay will disconnect quit often but ONLY when I am on a phone call. If I am using CarPlay for streaming music or navigation, it is fine. But anytime I am on phone call it will disconnect and reconnect. It may take 2 minutes, 3 minutes, or 5 minutes but it always disconnects and reconnects. The call stays connected to my phone however while it is disconnected and reconnecting I obviously can't hear the other member of the call and they can't hear me. Anyone experience this before or know a potential way to fix it?

I have no fix for the issue you note, but I had enough frustration with CarPlay connectivity wirelessly, I reset the CarPlay and turned off wireless. Told it to only connect wired. I plug in each time I get in the truck. A step I wish I didn't need, but utterly fed up with the Ford BS and implementations and it just makes each day better and easier to not think or worry about it.

Same, plus I have a vent magsafe mount that keeps it cool with the AC blowing on it.

Looks like I have about the same truck as you 23 Lariat ER. I have not experienced that issue at all and I am always making and receiving calls while I am driving?? I was so excited to get wireless CarPlay so I did not have to plug my phone in every time I get in the truck and that is all I have been using! -I keep it in my back pocket.
Sorry to hear that y’all have been having issues! I don’t and I love it!!! Maybe somebody can figure out what the deal is.
Edit: I have the 15 Pro max if that helps!

I too have a 15 pro max, but haven't tried wireless with it, because of past experiences with an iphone XS. Also another super strange phenomenon I had was the wireless carplay would cut out at a specific location geographically (<- no idea what that was about!!)

This sounds like it might be an issue with your phone? I would try disabling bluetooth (IIRC, wireless carplay is over a superlocal wifi), I would clean the phone of unnecessary apps, and then I'd make sure there was no other earbuds, headphones, headsets, etc. in range. When I have my airpods near the phone but not on my ears, sometimes the phone gets really confused about how i want to take a call.

I dont have the issue of it cutting out but if I have my phone wi-fi turned off when turning the truck on it wont connect. I turn the wifi on and it still wont connect after it fails to connect. I have to turn truck off and back on and then it connects. I have tried manually connecting the phone but still wont connect. This is wirelessly of course...

I gave up on playing music through SYNC4 via wifi or bluetooth from an external device - so many dropouts - and use an SSD formatted in xfat in a USB case plugged in to the USB on the console.

Much less trouble (none).

Disconnect is happening to me often, when I have the truck running, get out of the truck to do something and get back in. Getting in and out of the truck is a common occurrence. After getting back in the phone and truck will not connect. I have tried all kinds of things to fix it like turning of and the WiFi on the phone, switching to the radio and back, turning off the system. If anyone knows of a solution I would like to know how to fix this.

These kind of problems is why the wife will not buy a ford.
Specs iPhone Pro max and Lariat trim.

turning of and the WiFi on the phone
Carplay is a multi tier connection. It starts with bluetooth, so turning the wifi on and off doesn't help, but turning BT off and on might restart the connecting process. I sometimes run a bunch of deliveries, which means I'm in and out 3-4 times an hour, maybe more. I will not use wireless carplay anymore because it's just so hit and miss when you're just kind of out of range of the truck but still kind of in range. Wired carplay is one more thing to do to plug the phone in, but I prefer to do that for the certainty that carplay is going to work.

I have the exact same issue with disconnecting during calls. Drives me insane. Usually when it disconnects it switches to radio on some default station that is pure static that’s really loud. I don’t make calls often enough to not use wireless CarPlay but if I know I have a call I try to wire.
Also with CarPlay I find every so often (maybe every 5-10 times I get in the truck) CarPlay connects but audio doesn’t work. I have to disconnect and reconnect to make it work.

I have also had this a lot. It’s fing infuriating to keep losing the ability to talk to the people you’re on a call with with no explanation

Just bumping this back up to see if anyone has found a solution. My wireless carplay works nearly flawlessly except every time I am on a call longer than 5 minutes or so it will randomly drop out of carplay, switch to radio, then eventually reconnect. It’s exceptionally frustrating. I can be on a teams or zoom meeting through carplay for over an hour and it never drops (knock on wood), just cellular calls.

Sadly some day you have to accept the SW shortcomings of this truck. Save yourself the frustration and plug it in. It annoys me every time I get in, but that 3 seconds saves me other frustration.
