Charge door replacement

Does anyone have information on what's all involved or removing and replacing the charge port door? Thinking of machining a custom door but if I have to tear the front apart to get it out then not going to put much more effort into it.

If you doing it for cosmetic reasons, you just need to replace the cover which (I think) just pops off the hinge.
