I have a couple of dealers looking for a new '24 or '25 Flash or Lariat. In the process, I ran across a '23 Platinum CPO with 7k miles on the clock and they asking just shy of $62k. It has the 9.6kWh and tow tech pkg.
There are only a couple of things I like on the Lariat vs the Flash. I'm thinking this might be a way to get those items (and more) for the price of a new Flash.
Any issues I should look out for, if I go down this road?

I bought mine CPO as well with 20k more miles, sight unseen. I made sure the truck was up to date with its recalls and TSBs . You can check here.
I asked the dealership to provide all the certification paperwork as well as the 12V battery tests. I asked them about the SOH of the HVB and made sure the car was sold with all the OEM accessories like the mobile charger, rubber mats or carpets or both, 2 sets of keys and so on...
This was an out of state deal so it took a while but I was in no hurry.
They had to schedule a service appointment in order to address the pending recalls/updates. While my old ICE F150 was getting picked up as a trade in. All in all it took close to a month from the day I e-signed the contract to the day I got the truck delivered (bad weather delay). I'm in Louisiana, the dealership is in California.
So far I'm very happy with my purchase. First EV ownership and this forum has been a great source of information and it still is.
One thing i didn't inquire about was the tailgate light bar that can show condensation or water inside and prevent the light from working. I was not aware of that issue in time to get it replaced by the dealership. It is a recall 23S30 but for some reasons didn't show up for my VIN. I have an appointment at my local dealership for replacement as following storms these past weeks i started to see water in the lightbar. It flickered first but now does not work anymore.
Oh, don't fall for the extended service contract they might sell you. Do your homework! In my case it was marked up big time. I just declined and picked up the Granger offer here on this forum. The price was more acceptable.
I hope this will help.

Your post is a big help. I forgot about the tail light problem and I doubt OTA updates would come to mind. I do want to ask about the state of the battery.
Plus, I'm always curious why someone spends that much on a vehicle, only to dump it a few months later.
Hopefully, there is still some room to shave off a few more dollars.

I just checked your recall link...no recalls. Thanks for that.

I'll pester the sales guy tomorrow and get some more details.

Thank you for all the advice.

Ask for the specific vehicles service history, even if it went through a battery service procedure that shouldn't condemn the truck as a good deal.

Some folks bought the Lightning not really understanding the dynamics of a BEV and their personal driving requirements, several quickly bailed out, otoh some trucks needed service and parts were in short supply leading to extensive delays, they used buyouts to get out of the truck rather than wait for the repairs

CPO I believe should give you extended warranty coverage. I’m getting close to 60k miles on my 22 and it’s been care free. Anything that I have taken it to the dealer for has been out of caution or CSPs/Recalls. All minor in my opinion. 7k miles is nothing, good find!

Once you've taken a moment to learn how a BEV's mileage can vary based on driving habits, weather, and charging, just go for it! You'll be thrilled that you did! I recently got a '23 Platinum, and I'm loving all the extra perks it brings. My friends feel the same way! It's common to hear about early trade-ins happening because people didn't fully grasp what they were buying with their first BEV. You might even spot a few of those folks here on the forum and chuckle a little.

The thing that makes a Platinum a Platinum is massaging seats. I'm fairly certain '23 Platinums had massaging seats deleted. That's not necessarily a deal breaker but if it were me I'd consider a Platinum without massaging seats a Lariat. Is $62k a good deal for a Lariat?

For reference, I have a Platinum that I paid too much for but have zero regrets. Just know what you are paying for.

Yeah, the more I think about it, the more I want to go check it out. It’s about 2 hours away, so at some point I’ll need to make a road trip.
