That's the common normal level seen in many earlier photos, this level gives more room for heat expansion, but I personally brought mine up half way between MIN & MAX lines, be worried if the level goes lower than what you're seeing now.Yeah, I am not sure that it is really low, but I'm only at 6,200 miles and have some long road trips coming up. It is still a little above the minimum mark. With the long trips coming up, I was thinking it would just be best to proactively top it up.
Always buy pre-mixed. Mixing with tap water is just adding impurities and unknowns. Or mix with industrial RO filtered water. Don't use distilled water as a mix, it's clean but more corrosive even than RO. It says in the manual which Motorcraft coolant to use, I haven't bought/added any myself. My coolant level sits a bit above the min line when cold (like in OP's picture) and I'm at 6000 miles.I would not put any coolant in it. It calls for "Yellow" coolant. It looks green, but it is specific. I say this because I have a 2014 Super Duty with "Orange" coolant that looks red. I talked to a Super Duty specialist about the coolant and he said the new coolants are very sensitive. The "Yellow" coolant is better than the "Orange" coolant, but you can not mix it. He even said not to use tap water with the full strength "Yellow" coolant. I bought a gallon of pre mixed Yellow and topped mine up to the middle between Min and Max. My coolant was barely at Min.
