Explosion video. Hard to tell where the explosion originated, but it didn’t look like it was something in the bed of the truck.

Looking at the video at 1/4 speed, I first see a flash in the drivers window followed by the tonneau cover lifting off the truck.

Compromising the battery with any kind of explosive charge doesn't seem too difficult.

The age of branding-influencer dominance will accelerate the same global arena that terrorism feeds off & recruits from.

Suicide truck bomb. I'm sure it isn't a coincidence they picked two electric trucks, although why is a little strange. Maybe they want to wage their usual Jihad with a side of up yours to the environmental activists?
I was thinking, assuming this is correlated terrorism, that they know about the difficulties of dealing with a ev battery fire and may have been trying to cause further damage via a difficult to deal with fire. Sad but something to be aware of.

That could be too. Orrrrr. Maybe these are new age environmentally conscious jihadis? 🤣

I'm in communication with other "Lightning" enthusiast clubs, they are discouraging ongoing discussion about these incidents.

I've shared my thoughts with our forum administrator and will defer action on these threads pending their opinion.

Personally, I'd rather the open discussion so that we're well informed about facts instead of running with feelings that may be grounded in fiction or twisted fact, but the final call is in the hands of the forum.

1,000,000% this. Run away and hide is not the answer.

I think that the terrorists (whoever they are) have bought into the FUD about how scary EV batteries are. They had to bring their own gasoline and fireworks to have much effect with the Cybertruck. (I think the plan was to blow up the Lightning also but it didn’t work fortunately). The Cybertruck didn’t do anything that any other car loaded with gasoline and explosives would also do.

Not really the same as a gas car. Gas doesn't throw exploding batteries that burn at over 354 degrees Fahrenheit, so imagine 1,366 burning hot 4680 battery cells (46mm X 48mm - soda can 12 ozs) burning like a cluster-munitions cooking off all around you with 12 ounce grenade-like fragmentation of burning hot lithium. (remember chemistry lab and burning magnesium strip). Further the burning lithium releases highly toxic fluoride gas.

Eih, let's not let the colorful use of language prevent a reasonable discussion. If we wanted we could go on about the toxic fuel that burns at over 1800 degrees and creates and explosive cloud that spreads and engulfs everything around it. And how such would spread to many thousands of cubic feet, making all of it an fuel-air incendiary. And we could go on about how the burning of it creates a highly toxic cloud that if enclosed in a small space is deadly, and if not can cause long lasting environmental damage.

Yes, we know the point that you were trying to make, but such things are easy to write but can just as easily be written about gas cars too. I'm not writing this to debate the dangers of each, just to point out how language can be crafted to create any picture one wants to present. And that doing so often pushes out true meaningful discussions on the topic.

Seeing the photos of the Cybertruck post explosion it showed at least one fuel can and a bunch of other flammable stuff in the bed. I’m thinking the battery pack didn’t go off at all.
