Concur - Based on the state of charge video, that pin would appear to be a NACS release lever lockout device (which is an excellent safety feature to add, so thumbs up for at least the design @Ford Motor Company). The lockout would only be effective if it had successfully latched in the first place if I’m understanding the mechanism properly.
I will experiment and report back at my next opportunity which won’t be immediately. There aren’t any easily accessible Tesla handles that aren’t pretty far out of the way.

Tested the adapter on Level 2 this AM. CCS end locked to the truck and locked out the cable release lever (underneath) while locking the cable to the adapter. Gave it a tug and for the first time, the NACS cable was securely attached to the adapter.
As @Maquis commented, the NACS release lever is functionless, at least in the case of my adapter. Also appears Ford needs to revise their included instructions.

I have the original Ford Tesla Supercharger adapter (order #1,751 for the Mach E) and now also the new Ford Lectron Tesla adapter for my Lightning (order #124,414) which just arrived about a week ago.
On reading this thread, I went to the nearby Tesla Supercharger bank and tested the Lectron Ford-labeled adapter on three (3) Supercharger cords. Sure enough, all three cord handles just slipped out of the Lectron Ford adapter, no matter how I manipulated the locking lever, while the original Mach E Tesla adapter stayed locked on on the same three Tesla Supercharger cord handles. Thanks to the OP for noticing this and posting about it here!
I then compared the locking lever business ends of both adapters' locking teeth in good light at home. I even measured their heights and their widths. Both their heights and their widths in the Tesla cord receiving cavity appear the same, although the Lectron adapter's tooth edge, in face-on profile, appears more rounder while the original Tesla (Mach E) adapter's tooth face-on profile appears more square.
I called the Ford BEV team and they opened a case and sent me the case #. However, on researching the matter within the BEV Team, the BEV Rep then came back online and stated that "... the Ford BEV Team had switched the manufacturer from the original supplier to Lectron and the BEV Team now considers the matter satisfied" and that the Lectron adapter is OK as is now for full function.
I then read Post #28 here (with the SoC video) and went back to the nearby Tesla Supercharger bank today to test the Ford Lectron adapter while it is inserted into the truck's charging port.
I therefore want to confirm member DuBignon's post above this one: while the Ford Lectron adapter is locked onto the vehicle, the Tesla cord handle is then also locked in and cannot be pulled off easily. This seems to back up the Ford BEV Team's conclusion and pretty much confirms for me that the new Ford Lectron adapter is safe to use because of its plunger pin that locks the Tesla handle lever in place.

I too was having the issue and just verified at a Tesla charging station that is not open to Ford to make sure it would not energize. I have a mache and a lightning. Mach e Tesla adapter was replaced with the “ ford “ got both within a few weeks of each other
Like others have said when you plug it in to the adapter, it will pull freely without having to push the release it clicks and it feels like it’s locked but the moment you pull it, it just comes right out, but if you connect to the lightning or the Mach e charge port the moment that pin is depressed inside of the Nasc adapter the Tesla nasc will not come off no matter how hard you pull and you cannot depress the unlock release until you push the unplugged button on both mache or lightning and then remove the adapter from the car side, but once again the Tesla plug will just come right out without the release, kind of silly in my opinion like someone else said what’s the point of having that release?

Might want to get new directions and don’t understand why you have the bottom release clamp cause it’s really no reason to have

Confirmed. In at least my case (and it sounds like @jamelski's as well), CCS connection to the vehicle locks both the CCS end and the NACS cable end until you stop the charging session. And apparently the cable release lever is functionless. Once the charge session is stopped and the CCS lock is released, you can pull the NACS cable out of the adapter without touching the cable release lever.
@Ford Motor Company, please confirm this is the intended design and use of the new Ford/Lectron adapter. Please review the printed instructions customers are receiving with the adapters as well, especially in the context of Lectron's 2024 adapter recall, to understand the confusion.
