Different Tires on Stock Rims - 116 Load Index

One of my options of self troubleshooting I think is to try a different set of tires. Want to keep stock wheels and for towing and payload rating I want to keep the same or better than the 116 load index stock tires. Also want to keep efficiency around the same so light, low-rolling resistance, and no A/T treads. So 275/60R20 116 A/S road tires.

With all that said - am I crazy or are there basically no options for what I'm asking for? There are tons of 115 load index tires but not hardly any all season standard road tires (efficient, not A/T) at 116 (2,756 lbs per tire)?!

You go to tirerack and search and you get 3 hits, one is the OEM tire (GRABBER HTS 60), one is A/T, and one is a brand I never heard of (Falken Ziex) that is 12lbs heavier by tire than the OEM.

Are there really no options or am I screwing up my search somehow?

I think there minimal options. I have a tire on back order from the dealer for an all season So that I can have a full sized spare.

Yea.. I think I'm (we're) screwed for options. The math says you could go with a 115 load index tire based on GAWR and GVWR but I am sure (?) Ford cooked in some tolerances I am not aware of.

GVWR 8550:
per tire: 2137.5
GAWR Front: 3940
per tire: 1970
GAWR Back : 4950
per tire: 2475

115 tire has load index of 2679
116 tire has load index of 2756

I ran into this trying to get winter tires, Costco wouldn't put Blizzaks on, because they have a load index of 115 and the Grabbers are 116 (so the door sticker says 116). Was really frustrating.

Yep - it's frustrating there aren't many out there. There's like 3 "road" A/S tires including the OEM one. There's several A/T or off road tires at 116 but they all weigh 10+++lbs more per tire. Efficiency is going to take a 10+% hit if we swap. I need every mile I can get towing our travel trailer - I'm super hesitant on putting A/T's on.

The A/T ones that you can get optionally on our Lariats - those are rated at 115. They should be perfectly safe as longas you drop your payload by 100 lbs or so. Someone with the A/T tires (with the Lariat Trim level) could probably tell you what they have for payload to give you a safe estimate (make sure the features you have are the same).

I still have not resolved the humming/tire noise I'm hearing (part of the reason I am looking for tires). I'm taking it up to discount tire tomorrow to get the tires rotated left to right (instead of front to back like the dealer did for me) to see if it makes any noise changes. If it's still making the exact same noise above 48.. there's something mechanical going on or all 4 of my tires are fk'd. /shrug

Mine is going into the shop with the vibration concern tomorrow.

I confirmed it was the active air dam forcing air up into/across something that was vibrating or causing the humming/wind noise. Not the tires. If you put the truck into tow-haul or off-road mode, the sound will stop instantly, even if it's currently happening (that's because it retracts the air dam in those modes). I had it checked out by two different dealerships and both said it was "normal" and nothing they could do.

No real resolution other than run in tow-haul mode or remove the few screws holding the active air dam's rubbery-extension piece on (or live with the sound/vibration).

@Griddlez well thankfully you did not invest in something that would not have fix the problem. More tire options should become more readily available as the trucks popularity increases. That's how the tire industry responds. Supply and demand. For future tire purchases.
