I mean, in a way it makes sense. they scheduled all of May into June.

They don't really need to start scheduling June right now also.

That would be pretty foolish of them, if you ask me.

More foolish than already underdelivering units and removing features between order and build?

If our forum's approximate 25% figure of reservations scheduled for build is accurate across the wider population of reservations, that means you can back into the fact Ford can make around 15,000 Lightnings per annum at current build rates.

You have to think that Ford will get more efficient making Lightnings, but supply constraints aren't any better now than they were a year or two years ago, and there isn't any indication it's getting better soon. The announcement that Ford will open more orders in the summer is the most puzzling, it seems like these orders won't be built until 2024 at the earliest, scaling to 150k trucks by 2024 just doesn't seem possible in today's market. I guess someone has done the risk/reward calculation and determined the interest free loan and 30%-40% of retention rate of reservations is more important than the reputational damage 60%-70% of people walking for various reasons.

I have no idea what you are talking about.

But...Yea, it would be pretty stupid to schedule something 3 months out with the amount of uncertainty in the world.

I'd be happier if they were a bit foolish and gave tentative dates to the remaining confirmed orders.

We know all the dates are subject to change, but it at least gives us a sense of progress. I keep getting this feeling that the 20 week promised "Spring Delivery" that was made when I ordered it will not only move to Summer, but Fall or Winter, or become a 23.

The only thing they promised was first deliveries in Spring '22.

It's hard to say they're underdelivering 11 days into Spring and when they haven't promised to build a specific number of units for MY22.

I'm not sure what features you're referring to. As far as I can tell, the only thing that changed after the configurator went live was a price decrease for Max Tow.

Underwhelming deliveries based on stingy amount of orders.

I'm seeing ICE Lariat's having the 360 camera and park assist removed from the sticker at build . I was told it would affect Lightning builds too.

I agree that Ford hasn't broken any promises. I also agree that it makes sense to hold off scheduling the 75% of Lightning orders for production without dates, until they are sure the first 25% go well.

I don't agree that they should load up on more reservations in the summer, unless Ford is confident they are 6-12 months from fulfilling the reservations they already have. Ford isn't Rivian, which to me is a good thing. They shouldn't start imitating them with their reservation system. There's already a scary track record where your reservation time means nothing. If they open up higher cost orders in the summer and they fill up, I wouldn't be shocked they produce these before the lower cost older reservations. Tesla has done this in the past, and opening up more reservations before having a clear production on the orders/reservations already received, shows Ford is trying to be Tesla (not a compliment in this regard).

When I ordered Jan 6th I was told approximately 22 weeks. That puts them at June 9th. As long as I take delivery by June 9th, they haven't broken any promises. Heck, I'm willing to give them a 2 week grace period (one time I really hope they don't read the boards) to consider they delivered.

The reality is if the first 2 weeks of scheduled for production didn't go out, many of us probably wouldn't be checking. But GD Ford. Why did you do that to us? That's like giving us the lollipop before you tell us to drink the cough syrup.

Underwhelming is a subjective term.

I would be very interested in seeing a sticker to support the claim about the 360 camera and park assist on the Lightning.

You're missing the most important part of your order. It was 22+ weeks, that + means they haven't promised anything other than the fact it won't come in 21 or fewer weeks. If you get your truck in 2086, they didn't break a promise due to that almighty +.

The 360 camera appears to be if it's an option it will be removed. So my lariat should be safe. And according to the PDF my 511A lightning should have the park assist.

maybe the lightning isn't affected like the ICE trucks who knows. i don't have great confidence. Seems each production scheduling week something else comes up .

Usually my wife says it's selective hearing but it applies to my reading comprehension as well

Here's what I saw from your post.

You're missing the most important part of your order. It was they promised it in 21 or fewer weeks.

I like to go back and refer to one of the initial charts, which states "Forecasted Available Retail 22MY Commodities."
I think Ford did a solid by not giving people false hope based on the limitations on commodities.
They let people know they were building a limited amount and which models they were building the most of.
Was destined to disappoint a lot of reservation holders, but we live in a different world.
