When I use the fan with heat set too low and the ac off, does it use any electric? Fan of course, but does it just used ambient temp for air temp?

I guess it depends on what the ambient temp is.

Is the cabin temp lower than what you have set? Then unless you turned off "E-Heat", then you are using more electricity than just running the fan.

Higher, then in my experience, it will just blow ambient air unless AC is selected.

Seems like you can turn off heat on the HVAC screen and turn off AC with the AC button and you'll just get "vent".

Some modes like defrost-only force heat to be on (and maybe AC too in order to dry the air).

Which mode are you using ?

Departure times with preconditioning and the cabin temperature set to "Cool, Medium, Warm, OFF"?
Remote start with remote start preferences set appropriately?

I like having the fan running for fresh air on 2 or 3 setting.

I turn off AC and E-Heat, set the temp to 68F, set to fresh air (not recirculating) and manually select the vents for output.

This config just runs the fans and daws fresh air in from outside. Uses almost no battery as the fans run off the 12v system.

If I crank up the temp to the 70s or if the cab is colder then 65F the E-Heater will kick on automatically but you can manually go in a switch it off again. AC does not seem to turn back on automatically regardless of how hot the cabin gets - you need to hit the AC button or Auto button to kick AC on.

Does anyone know why the ac always turns it self on? I even put the cabin temp to 80 and it still turns on. I am not opposed to ac, but when it’s 70 degrees out I’d rather just open the window and it seems weird that I have to turn off the ac everytime I drive.

Are you using “Auto” mode?

I have better luck with my settings (AC, E-Heat, and Recirc) staying persistent if I don’t use “Auto.”

No, no auto mode in use, I get in and the ac is just on.

I’ll watch more closely, but I’m pretty sure that doesn’t happen to me.
I see you have an XLT, so different controls…..never mind!
