Driver Assistance screen "mi range" not tracking

Hello, I bought my Lightning in January this year and have noticed that in the DA screen the mi range will drain faster the more juice I give it... expected, but then the mileage will stay at the same range for several miles before counting down again. How reliable is the number?

This number is an estimate, and it's more accurate when you set the navigation system to a destination. Without a destination set, it has trouble guessing how far you can drive since it doesn't know where you're going and the conditions of said destination so it's not the most accurate. I would recommend focusing on the percentage.

I just looked. Mine says "EXACT RANGE, NO MATTER HOW YOU DRIVE, WHAT THE TEMPERATURE, OR ANYTHING".

I had a Tesla in 2018 and people complained about the Tesla's estimated range all the time too.

There is only one way a car manufacturer is going to avoid this.

They need to claim 25% less mileage or something.

Like the new Silverado saying 400 and getting 450 or some crap.

I don't blame Ford, but I feel like as a society we're getting dumber and dumber.

People are going to complain about this forever because they're too lazy to deep dive into the issue and fully understand it better.


Ford could've just said these trucks only get 300 miles of range or so and maybe it would've been a little better.

Understand the sarcasm... but if my gas vehicle had and mi range I would expect it was accurate or it said "est"

I don't know what you drive, but my 2013 F-150 had a range, and it wasn't accurate either. If I drove for 6 months locally, and then head off on a 10,000 mile trip, and expect the range calculation to read my mind (vs. project from the city driving history), then who is to blame - the car or me?

But then again, maybe car manufacturers expect owners to read the manual? Yes, that was sarcasm.

Still getting used to the truck and was watching the dial closely. Just wanted to know what I can trust...

Your mind.

1.9 miles per kWh x 131kWh battery x 70% (80% down to 10% before charging) = range

Cold? Subtract 30%. Strong headwind? Same.

All my gas vehicles show a mile range next to the gauge and none are exact
