Hey all, my RV dealer has two options of e2 hitch - the straight-armed Trunnion and the angled Roundbar. Anyone have experience or preference when it comes to which version is better (either for an e2 or alternative weight distributing/sway control hitch)?

Thanks!

I have used the Trunnion style for several years now, starting with my 2019 Tacoma. Just bought my F-150 about 2 months ago and they work great. I know the Trunnion has heavier weight capacity options but not sure if there is an advantage over the angled round-bar.

From the interwebs ;) I found: the main difference between the two systems is basically the attachment point of the bars. The trunnion bars are a little easier to install than the round bars that require a clip to hold them into the head. The head on trunnion bar units does not come down and the bars do not stick out of the bottom, so there are less ground clearance issues. This can be ideal for low sitting trailers such as horse trailers. Round bars are easier to adjust for the angle of the ball mount to get the system in the correct position for towing and weight distribution. Neither setup is necessarily better than the other, it's just two different styles based on your own preferences.

Looking at pictures of both, ground clearance would have to get pretty low before the round bars would be a problem - I would think before that point, on ground that uneven, you'd have issues with scraping the back of the trailer etc. before the leading edge of round bars became an issue?

Suggest you use the chat function on the site you linked to if you have questions?

The INTERWEBS?! ;) I read the marketing stuff, but the only difference I've read is in line with what @SanJuanTech mentioned - trunnion has heavier weight models available compared to round bars. Figured people using either one might have some real-world nuances :)

That's a great idea about the chat feature though, I hadn't noticed it on the site! I'll try it and report back what they say (hopefully they actually offer something beyond regurgitating what's on the website).

Quick update, went with trunnion. Dealer was like "more stability" and I was like "good enough, let's do it." So still no definitive answer, but the towing experience was really smooth so happy with it. :)
