Do we have an idea on how much it'll cost to insure the F150 Lightening compared to ICE F150 with similar trim\price range?

I hear that Teslas are expensive to insure but I'm hoping the F150 won't be as bad.

Thoughts?

My Tesla cost the same to insure as my previous sedan, a similarly priced Audi. I assume that if you drive a truck that's currently around the same price as your new Lightning will be, insurance will be comparable.

The answer is, we have no idea. But an $70 - $80,000 is not inexpensive to insure.

Insurance varies by state, by driver and their history, their insurance score, other drivers, cars, ...

When we got our Mach-E, the insurance company had to contact HQ to price it. It was expensive. Now, it's in their database, and it's still expensive. Most of that is the price of the vehicle, combined with the expensive repair cost. Clearly the F-150 non-EV components are the same as the regular truck, so that will help, whereas Mach-E parts are hard to come by.

Had a small animal crack the louver panel, and the bottom panel. No painting, nothing but plastic fasteners and a few bolts. $1,400 for the 2 parts, $500 labor.

USAA already has the Lightning as an option to select for estimates. I'm in CA.

In my case, replacing my Egolf is costing me ~$20 more/month.

Replacing my ICE CX5, it costs ~$40 more/month.

Current (2 cars): $223
Revised (minus egolf): $245
Revised (2 Evs): $266

My wife pretty much selects the most compressive coverage, with $100 deductible... so, it already costs more than most. I can adjust the numbers (to a more reasonable coverage level) and end up saving w/ the Lightning.

For the vehicle I am replacing, $6.00 and change per month increase. Also USAA.

I wonder if owning an EV will also impact house insurance in the future. considering what happened with BOLT Battery issues.

How many homes had fire damage from Bolts?

No, it won't.

Good point, GM did the right thing this time. I guess insurance companies don't have enough data to jack up the premiums. at least for now.
